Well I've been browsing several expat forums. Day to day costs are not that bad, like groceries and things like that. A lot of the monthly costs like utilities, housing, etc., will be taken care of. Eating out is not too bad. Alcohol is expensive from what I hear :( . Clothing, electronics, and assorted other goods, I was just planning on loading empty suitcases full of stuff as I'm travelling around. |

occrider, its all about the money, put your social life on the side for a couple of years, cash up and put it aside for a nice downpayment for your house when settled in the US or elsewhere in the west.
I am not sure exactly how Bahrein is, but I heard many stories about Dubai and Kuwait where the male/female ratio being extremly bad and the local females being out of play.
Customs and traditions will look backward for someone living in NY and social activities are resumed to going for shisha spots, playing cards, hanging at the coffe shop with friends and eating in restaurants. And yeah, males usualy stick with males and vice-versa.
The worst being that some places might be off limit because deemed "familial" i.e. you need to be accompanied by a lady (friend, wife, sister, etc).
This might not exactly fit bahrain, but i would be surprised if it actually didn't, seeing how most arab countries are so conservative (backward). |

hehe, like I said in my first sentence, you go there for the money.
Why are they offering double and triple salaries plus expenses?? because they like western pricks better?? NO! its because no one would want to stay there!
edit: Occrider is smart enough to make his own decision, he asked for advice from middle easterns and I gave mine!! :) are you middle eastern? |
