| I did actually, just not using the word fun, I used passionate which is similar, but yes I do get fun and enjoyment out of making money. |

Some would say that the standards for success and creativity are set by males in the first place. Women then perhaps do not need fame and wealth and creativity as males know it because they posses an entirely different set of goals and desires for social prosperity.
Of course there are several instances where this is not the case - and men and women desire and possess the same goals - but there are several occurrences throughout history where certain revisions in logic and understanding have had to be imparted due to the fact that women are very often far different creatures than men. Should they be treated differently? Well , I can't answer that. Each sex/gender has its expectations, but other peoples' considerations are an entirely different topic. :P
Why do males dominate? Males sure think they do, don't they? Who sets the standards for 'domination' though? Males. Why are they the ones who get to set the standards? Because they are pretty much the only ones who care. :stongue:
Of course this is all generalizing. The first who points that out gets a cyanide cookie. |

But putting two tracks together out of a huge collection of music that work perfectly is a great skill imo. And to do this continuously for 6+ hours is as well.
Collecting music is like a job too, if you're serious about it. Theres alot of good music out there that is extremely hard to find unless you really look, I'm sure you know that.

for sure man, you might know im a fairly big into the older electro scene or whatever all that , and mixing was big part of that...but the actual emphasis on the MIXING was less, but track selection was just as key as ever, and of course I love tracks, so line up a bunch of good ones and I'll be happy. Play something that blows my mind that I havent heard before and I'll be giving that dj a lot of prise...but I probably wouldnt have cared how well they mixed into it! Thats not to say proper mixing can't be a delightful touch especially from the perspective of actually being on the dancefloor (not in a computer chair).
Of course you can be madly creative with mixing, but thats usually best with um... more boring music...when people try to do that with really awesome tracks it starts to sound too gimicky or something to me though. |

interesting points, but in my opinion when it comes to like music and , the girls who do make it have a lot of the same goals. (well as "samey" as you can get amoung artists!) It is pretty universal I think really.
But it is important to remember that yeah, success is only rated on the person...and some girls will have different passions.
Raising a good child is probably a greater success in most ways than one can achieve in corporate jobs thats for sure...I sort of strayed away from the whole pregnancy thing though...cuz it is an obvious difference that will probably more or less remain in our society for a while. |

I personally am a big fan of good mixing. I guess, not so much in the sense that I wont tolerate even a minor up, but, I just want to know that the guy/gal DJing is putting effort into how they arrange the tracks together, and how they get from one to the next.
Of course tracks matter more, but I think its funny how I see alot of people like yourself who are always quick to point out the fact that DJs really aren't doing much worth anything, yet you don't mind if they're not keen on mixing well. IMO, it's a part of a DJ's job too, and like I said, it's more a display of effort and creativity for me than exact technical skill.
Also what you said about boring music, I think thats another advantage of creative mixing, is that it can make ok tracks sound much more fun and interesting. |

yeah its a strange paradox or something.
I guess it comes down to that I'm not really too concerned about the mix being recorded and uploaded and critiqued and ...
also I ing love the little ups in live improv. Man when you have multiple people jamming hardware together...often with no midi, youre gonna have ups...but somehow that rules to me right now. It sounds ing wicked. So raw or something. |

Right - because they are conforming to succeed in a male-dominated industry. Is that sort of what you meant? I'm not sure what sorts of universal goals you mean, I guess. |

well all the female artists im thinking of dont make a dollar from their music, so I have no reason to beleive they would do it for any other reason.
also when they talk about making it they have a passion for the just like anybody else. |
