it's ok. for the first time in my life i have a lot of money in the bank and i'm almost debt free. that's a major acomplishment for me. and if that means i had to live with mommy for half a year then so be it. i'm moving out soon. lease is up in november and she wants to join the peace corps so i actually have to move.:nervous:
oh yea and i cook for her and clean and i pay the electric bill so eat a bag of dicks. i'm not mooching...just saving. :p |

the only thing (responsible) beating of a child teaches them is that beating their own children in 20 years is a-ok. i never once took my home beatings and took that influence to school or anything. i just feared being naughty (ie caught) with my pares. thats how i want my kids to feel. if i can achieve that without beating, then fine. if not pkc's spatula of pain is gonna get a workout :) |

but thats you frenchie...some kids get loved to death and disciplined with words and time outs...and end up as useless s who don't know how to act or do anything for themselves. What do you do to the kid that won't listen? I say you correct it at a young age before its too late and it ends up being one of those nuts that was raised right but still ing acts like an animal. |

What pisses me off is when people think that they can just sit down a kid and "talk to them" about why what they are doing is wrong, or other BS in every situation. Talking works perfectly well when two rational parties are involved, but kids...like animals, aren't rational (at least some of the time).
If I had a baby and I saw it was reaching for a hot burner on the stove, I'm going to slap its hand (lightly) to show a negative consequence for that action. No amount of talking is going to stop what they're doing. If I had a kid that was throwing a hysterical fit, I'm not going to try to sit down and have a face to face with an them, I'm going to instill a "negative consequence."
Now, don't me wrong, physical punishment should be a last resort, but is sometimes necessary. I wasn't the best kid growing up and I got my fair share of spankings and "time outs," and as said before, kids are smart. I learned that a "time out" meant going to my room, or somewhere else, and after a while my parents just ran out of patience and I usually was out of there in a few minutes. Or, I got a "stern talking to" during which I didn't pay attention and usually ended up laughing about it later. The fear, or threat, of a spank was much more of a deterrent than being sent to my room or being yelled at ever was. All that being said, I don't feel like I was abused or mistreated while I was growing up. I was a kid and I was treated like one. |

and thats great...like i said it was more of a quip.Its great that for the first time in your life you have a pot to piss in...all im saying maybe if your parents were a bit harder on you (i dont know if they were im only assuming here) you would have had it earlier on;)
You don't have to put your kid in the hospital to send a message...ie: if i ever catch my kid acting like a junkie...the first place they are going to is the morgue to see where some junkies end up.It might be overkill but i guarantee that will be burned into their ing minds and might make a difference.It might do nothing, but at least you tried.
edit:i'm not saying smacking is the only way...but if i try everything and it fails..you can guarantee the kid is catching a beating before i would turn to child services(in canada it isnt only for abused kids, but the ones who can't behave).My kid wont be raised by them...sometimes parents have no choice. |

you are so wrong on that one. again, you seem to think that people who show willingness to hit children only want to disciple them through spanking and beating. You only want to do the opposite and never hit a child. Both are extremes. There needs to be a balance. that is all. |
