i like dick enberg. he may lost a step or 2 the past couple of years, but where would sports broadcasting be without his traditional "oh my!" line once every 20 minutes. he's a legend. out of all the sports he broadcasts, i think his best is football, followed by tennis.

:stongue:
that was so cheesy.
btw, time for some good ones:
Michael Smith
Mike & Mike (except for afl games. they suck at that)
Jeff Joniak (Bears Radio announcer)
Scott Van Pelt
Rich Eisen
Charles Smith
Deion Sanders
Hawk Harrelson
Johnny "Red" Kerr (my all-time favorite)
Johnny Miller
Almost EVERY golf announcer is annoying, because they are all either pretentious sports announcers (see: Bob Costas, Jim Nance), or former golfers. Golfers, even more so than football players, suffer from the "well, I used to" disease. Johnny Miller's one of the worst at it, though he's otherwise a really good commentator imo (mainly because he'll actually criticize players and use the word "choke"), and because his reminiscing is so over-the-top that it's funny, especially knowing that he had to quit golfing 'cuz he couldn't putt (or admit that that was the reason he was quitting).
also, I just realized that I was confusing Andrea Kramer & Chris McKendry. So everything I've said about "Andrea Kramer" was meant for Chris McKendry. She's one of the worst.

lol it's 4 downs with john clayton & sean salisbury again. Once again, Clayton killed Sean, so he reverted to this:
"And that's what makes you a great reporter & an analyst, but I'll tell you what--[leans forward, points pen at camera] you wouldn't make a very good coach, John."
edit: lulz. Salisbury just argued that the Patriots can't win without Asante Samuel, to which Clayton replied that they play enough zone defenses that they can cover for him anyway, and that they lost Ty Law in '04 & still won the Super Bowl. :stongue: :stongue:

Salisbury = n00b. :o
that's what makes the pats so great. they play great zone defense, and play mind games with quarterbacks. that's why peyton manning lost the pats all the time in the past, because he was being beaten at his own game.

Is there any show worse than the Sports Reporters?
Nothing s up my morning like having the string of Sportscenter re-airs interrupted by four arrogant, pretentious, dim-witted gasbags chosen based on either reputation with their elitist brethren or race, sit around and pat each other on the back as they suck more SEC & east coast dick, with the occasional dismissive comment about a team from a city they consider to be beneath them, followed by a round of laughter at those idiots who live there. Their little monologues at the end of the show make me want to hurl my breakfast at the screen, as they all take their conceited little jabs at those they deem unworthy, or put on the 'it's absolutely despicable' hats, each of which is accompanied by a buzz of laughter or 'mmhmm' from the other 'panelists' & a smug smirk. I want to stab Mike Lupica & John Saunders in the eye.
...and just as I finish writing that, I'm greeted by Chris McKendry doing Sportscenter. Why is it that the best time to bum out to ESPN has to be filled with the worst people they have to offer? I always wake up on Sunday and think, "sweet. I can sit back & eat breakfast & watch Sportscenter," then I get this . It's like I'm always expecting it to be gone, only to be disappointed yet again. I'm ing livid, and now my breakfast is cold.

To whoever mentioned Johnny Miller a few posts up, you're right that he is an interesting guy to listen to most of the time and knows the game of golf inside out. But, although I love how he always offers an honest opinion and isn't afraid to rip anyone a new one, he does talk about himself way too much. He only won one US Open right? I mean....easy on the ego stroking!
Lanny Wadkins was brutal too and Ken Venturi could never stop about how much he wanted to suck Ben Hogan's cock. And then there was Peter Kessel from the Golf Channel who must have jerked off five times a day to Bobby Jones....and then there's Dottie Pepper who can barely form a sentence on air...
yeah, golf commentators are pretty ty overall, mostly because they have to supply so much filler while the golfers walk to their next shot.

Damn, I forgot about Peter Kessler. WHAT a ing tool. He tops even Joe Buck for arrogance, but with a heaping dose of insecurity on top. It's just painful to watch/listen to him.
Seriously--how can you take anyone like that seriously?
I hadn't watched the golf channel for a few years, but I see that he's got a brand new toupee now, and is doing Bobby Jones infomercials. How fitting. :stongue:

LOL, so funny you mention that, IT ALWAYS seems that like the ONE time I actually sit down, and am 100% completely devoted to watching Sportscenter..... she's friggen co-hosting... and I just get up and shut the friggen tv off.... always seems to happen when I really want to watch SC.... unreal...
and unlike buttahs, I've never liked Linda Cohn, just something about when she does Tiger highlights, I friggen HATE it... she's so damn corny.... her whole..."you didn't think he was going to make the green.... and then... HE DOES" like, no in lady, its friggen Tiger Woods, stop making it all cornball... christ...

Chris Collinsworth & Bob Costas & editing, OH MY!
There's enough smugness in that room to supply a small elitist country. If they hadn't finished up, I may very well have thrown something through the screen by now.
