I'm too angry whenever I see Chris Collinsworth to notice things like that. He's probably more arrogant than anyone who does sports broadcasting. Every time he talks, he makes fun of fans in some way, and there's nothing more irritating. Without fans, these guys don't have jobs, and didn't 20 years ago when they were still even relevant. In return, they spew disdain & disrespect for all the 'fools' who pay to watch sports.
Collinsworth just blatantly insults fans, but almost every other athlete or commentator does it indirectly, by insisting that fans are somehow required to support athletes. If you pay for a ticket, it's your right to do or say anything you want, short of physical confrontation or actually interfering with the game. You can't run on the field or throw your beer at somebody, but once you've paid your 100 bucks, if you want to boo somebody, there's no reason that you shouldn't--regardless of who it is. These guys all act as if the fans have some duty to fulfill--like they owe the players for the privilege of being allowed to see a game. No. Once you pay to get in, nobody owes anyone anything. If you're too fragile to handle booing, that's your fault--not the fault of the group of people that just paid $5 million to see you up. |

completely agree... and sadly... the whole reason.. s like collinsworth act like that? Cause they can, and thats the ONE bad thing about the NFL thriving over the last 10 years... no matter how bad a commentator is.... everyone will always watch, because we want to see a football game... and the ratings will always be good, even if we hate the jerkoffs calling the game... it sucks, but thats what we get from the NFL being so successful... |

| I miss Kenny Mayne as a SC anchor. In one game's highlights, he managed to make a Tom Emanski reference & finish up by yelling, "THE PLAYERS ARE GAY!" while they showed the celebration. that nearly made up for 3 hours of mike tirico. :stongue: :stongue: |

He's been on a few times lately. I think he might be making a comeback in some limited role. He was alright at his dumb reports once in a while, but they got old, and he's just so good at SC. You can NEVER have enough Tom Emanski/Fred McGriff references, and referring to it as 'tackle football' is classic.
Yeah, everybody--watch the tigers/blue jays highlights. They are awesomeness.
edit: actually, thanks Kenny. I needed a new one, anyway :p |

"and here you've got the bengals, who, every time somebody got inside the 5 last season, they scored on them."
Nice attempt at complex sentence structure, Mikey boy, but keep your al roker look-alike ass away from attempts to sound intelligent, because it just makes you come off as more of a try-hard, pompous failure when you can't even keep track of your subjects & verbs. |

I wanted to strangle the guy when that pass got tipped and intercepted by the Bengals(I forgot the guy who picked it)... but it clearly did not hit the ground... and liek ONE second into the replay, BEFORE it even got tipped by the Ravens player... he storms out and says..."OH WAIT GUYS, this is going to be over-turned...." like he in has inside information... I couldn't in believe that.... he saw like ONE second of the replay, and not even the controversial PART... I wanted to kill him... and it was clearly a clean play....
I friggen hate Mike Tirico...ugh... |

For some reason, I just can't stand Cris Collingsworth at all! And Tim McCarver is an obvious choice for terrible announcers. I do like Joe Buck though... go figure.
On the flip side, my favorite play-by-play man of ANY sport has to be Gus Johnston of CBS!!! I watch games just because he's calling them!!! Unbelievable for March Madness and amazing at NFL! Did anyone hear him call the Broncos/Bills game this weekend? Unreal!!!! So much enthusiasm for the game itself! No smartass comments or thinks he knows everything.
Cheers,
Terry |

why? He's one of the most informed writers around the league and while sometimes I don't agree with him, he doesn't irritate me or piss me off like some of those blatant Yankee-hating cocks who write for ESPN.
I remember when Steve Phillips, about a month ago or so, was saying the Yankees didn't have anything in the tank and that Seattle's superior pitching and Detroit's overpowering offense would put the Yankees out of it by mid September. Hmm.....INCORRECT.;) |

| Gammons is the Headmaster of the "Yankees/Red Sox is all that matters in sports" school of BS. You like the Yankees, so you don't notice, but for those of us who care about other stuff, like, say, the other 28 teams in baseball, it's annoying. |
