| you do realize its not the "fast lane" its the passing lane...nothing pisses me off more then seeing people driving in the passing lane when its meant for passing....although we all do it....I still hate it when people refer to it as the fast lane. |

| But you see when i am driving in the passing lane and i see someone closing in, i give them the way and move to the middle lane or whatever you call it.I was talking about more of those who think its their dad who owns the passing lane. |

Somone cruising 100 in teh fast lane ...will cause an accident. NOT someone going 140 or 150.
regardless of who is obeying the law...the 100 cruiser will be causing huge issues. |

I'll start off by quoting Euphorica. I 100% agree with what you said... I couldn't of put it better myself. Moving on...
We OFFICIALLY have the dumbest law ever! Before all you losers that posted 150 is way too fast and you agree with this new law, there are reasons as to why 50km/hr ON THE HIGHWAY is not really that much. I'm not saying that 150 is SAFE! and that you should be doing it all the time, but to impound, suspend a license, and heavy fine someone for that low of a limit, it's pretty ridiculous. If the law was for 170-80km/hr, I'm all for it... but 150, thats a complete stupid joke! I'm all for this law if a driver is doing 50 over on a 50 zone, basically anything other than a highway. Then this would make way more sense.
Now... when you are on the highway, there are no parked cars around, kids playing on the sidewalk, people walking on the street, traffic lights... NOTHING! It's people driving at a consistent steady speed of, normally, 100-120km/hr. I'm not promoting that we all drive at 150km/hr, or that it is safe to drive at that speed... but there will be that one day where you will drive over or near that speed because of a reason or another and you know your best friend will be there hidding behind some barrier/wall like the scum that they are, with their stupid radar gun just waiting to ruin someone's life for a few years.
So whats the point of buying a really nice car now? a powerfull car? None at all. Why don't we just in' manufactor them to a limit of 160. Why even have speedometers that say 200 or something crazy like that.
Its funny to see how many people agree with this law, you know what I agree with... A road test every 4-5yrs when you have to renew your G license. I don't believe that going 50 over (basically 30 over since everyone already does 120) will make your accident a lot more dangerous then you travelling at 120. I wish to GOD we had this type of testing system. I bet most of you that agree with this law are dumb asses who don't signal, don't look over your shoulder when changing lanes, run that red (Wait, its still a yellow right?), slow down for no in' reason on the highway because you're going over the speed by 10 or so, and of course like Euphorica said in the beginning, the idiot who drives at 100 on the fast lane. Having THIS sort of law is the type of that would keep BAD/INEXPERIENCED drivers out of the road and having more experienced drivers who can handle a 150kn/hr speed once in a while when need be. Think about that for a minute. Start with the root of the cause (Bad drivers).
One thing is for sure, this McGuinty dumb ass is not getting my vote when it comes to election time. He can stick his 1 extra holiday proposal up his ass. |

you are bang on. this new law is 100% bull when it comes to the major highways.
ok, if you are going 50 over in a 40 zone than you shoudl get in trouble...but on the highway..please. the 100km/h limit is way outdated.
not to mention the whole reason this law started was cause of those 2 guys who were supposedly street racing killed that couple...turns out the judge said they werent racing.... 2 the fukcing guy was DRUNK. double the limit! under the influence is FAR worse than someone speeding.
this is such bs.
100% and makes no sense. supposedly 35 dead from street racing since 99...whoa, stop the f*cking presses. 35 in almost 10 years. whoa, what a HUGE problem . People are being massacred by this massive problem. pullllllllllllllllllleaaaaaaaase.
better driver training would be such a better solution to the bad driving problem out there, but why would they actually want to try and fix that? thats not the real issue. street racing is  |

i wonder if there is any way to appeal this bull law
while i barely ever go 150 on a highway i think this law is absolutely ridiculous
50 over on city streets, yes
50 over on a highway, no |

Going 20-30 over is fine, especially if most traffic is moving along at that speed anyways, but 40-50 over is pushing it. |
You people need to die!!!!
Move your 121km/h going ass to the right hand lane and let me pass!!!!
On a beautiful, sunny, open stretch of 400 highway there is nothing unsafe about driving 150km/h.......unless of course you're asian or a woman |

No jail for men in car-crash deaths
October 03, 2007
Peter Edwards
Staff Reporter
Two men have been spared jail terms for their role in a high-speed accident that left an 8-year-old Richmond Hill girl an orphan.
The sentencing in Newmarket court today came six weeks after Katie Manchester told a packed courtroom that she's "mad at the guys who killed my parents.''
Her parents Rob and Lisa Manchester, aged 46 and 43, were out celebrating their 17th wedding anniversary May 27, 2006, when a car, going 20 to 32 kilometres an hour over the speed limit, slammed into the Richmond Hill couple's vehicle.
It was followed by another speeding car.
Ruben Rodrigues, 22, the driver of the car that struck the Manchesters, had pleaded guilty to two counts of dangerous driving causing death.
Marco Gasparro, 19, the driver of the second car, had pleaded guilty to dangerous driving.
Mr. Justice William Gorewich told court that he has handled no tougher case in his almost 40 years as a lawyer and a judge.
He noted that victim Rob Manchester's blood alcohol level was well over the legal limit at the time of the crash.
Neither Rodrigues nor Gasparro had a previous criminal record or had used drugs or alcohol at the time of the collision, the judge said.
He sentenced Rodrigues to a conditional sentence of two years less a day, to be served in his home, when he's not working or attending school.
He also banned Rodrigues from driving for five years and ordered him to perform 150 hours of community service. Once his sentence is completed, he will be in probation for three years and must perform an additional 50 hours of community service.
Gasparro was given two years' probation, fined $2,000, ordered to perform 100 hours of community service and banned from driving for 18 months.
In her victim impact statement in August, Katie recalled sledding down a hill of snow her dad had shovelled and playing catch with her parents.
Katie also spoke about her new life with her aunt and uncle, Cathy and Jeff Gray, and how she's had to adjust to a new home, a new school and new friends.
"I still wish I had my mom and dad,'' Katie said. "Even though my Aunt Cathy and Uncle Jeff are just like having parents, it's still not the same.''
Her aunt and uncle were in the courtroom today while Katie attended school.
"She's got to get on with her life and she enjoys school," her aunt Cathy said in an interview outside court after the sentence was read.
She said there has to be a greater public awareness of the horrific consequences of reckless driving and that she would have welcomed jail sentences as a deterrent to other drivers.
Asked what she will tell Katie about the sentence, she replied, "I don't know, I don't know... She's very bright. I think she'll handle it."

Poor little girl :( I lost my dad in a dangerous driving accident in Saudi Arabia and I wouldn't wish my enemies to go through such torment and grief :(
Speed was not the only factor in my dad's case and I know I should drive slower but I don't know...I think I'll just drive the speed of the traffic in the left lane for a while after reading that article and not speed too significantly. :( |

I like the new law ... safer for everyone.
I never drive ultra fast, only 12km/hr over the limit and highways 20 km/hr
I'm extra happy when i see RIDE, b/c I know they are making our roads safer! |

And YES, when I see someone speeding behind me ... I move over. I hate it when ppl drive slowler then the limit on the left lane and I;m just doing "MY" limit.
Just installed all the RED LIGHT CAMERA & REDAR TRAPS in North America on my GPS. Gotta be extra careful, cops are getting sneaky. |
