PVD is still brilliant, he is still a musical prodigy and an audio production genius...he is pouring all his time into his touring all throughout the world, as he has been for the past few years...he does FOUR radio shows a week, plays 3-4 nights a week at clubs - how in the *&^% do you think he can find enough decent studio time to really get his mind into the mode to put something serious together these days? ...something on the order of an "Out There and Back" or "Seven Ways" again....just not sure if Paul is getting the message from his fans that this is what his fans want to see, he is going off on a tangent doing this somewhat of a hybrid type of album with a bunch of mixed styles....it's just like a bunch of projects all over the walls collab with many diff artists,,, it's definately not a solid, PVD-esque-original score...
I don't think PVD is washed up yet, I think he's still got it, production-wise....and as for his livesets and shows - they are more amazing now than ever before, I think the addition of : Ableton Live and his MacBook Pros, midi controllers and Xone 3D has added a really unique touch to his style of live mixing...and he DOES know how to use them. Sasha and PVD are on the cutting edge of live performance in this direction.
The basic deal (I think) is... now, PVD is putting alot more time and effort into his shows and live performances, and neglecting his once godgiven talent of masterminding a set of studio productions and delivering massive crowd-pleasers on vinyl...like he was doing. |
This guy is like, ALWAYS the voice of reason.
"As opposed to STFU n00b! I'm right, and your an , and you can piss off, because I have nothing else in my life other than this website." |

Most people here either say Paul Van Dyk or PVD. But you keep saying Paul. Just curious. |

I have listened to this album, you have not. Why am i an for seeing that he blatently ripped off other artists in many of the songs on the release? That is what is wrong with things today. You judge music after you listen to it and not before. I admit to not being a PVD groupie, but I did give it the benefit of the doubt. Creativity aside,(or lack thereof)plagerism is never to be defended. |
i am in full agreement here - i get especially offended when people rip off daft punk. I have not listened to the album and i dont intend to - i can imagine how awful it is. |

yeah at this point they should off and die instead of churning our regurgitated nothingness and losing all credibility. |

I thought this was better than reflections but then reflections was pure garbage. Only tune I liked off that was Crush.
This was far more varied than I expected with many tracks not having that typical PVD kick and bassline. I've only heard it all once and it seemed okay but there were
1)too many crap vocals
2)too many rip offs (was the one tune made with 4 strings or just copied?)
3)I don't mind mixed albums as such but some of the tunes here were only a few mins long and felt more like brief samples rather than full tracks making it difficult to get into
Overall, not bad in comparison to other current trance albums but still not that great either |
