PVD is still brilliant, he is still a musical prodigy and an audio production genius...he is pouring all his time into his touring all throughout the world, as he has been for the past few years...he does FOUR radio shows a week, plays 3-4 nights a week at clubs - how in the *&^% do you think he can find enough decent studio time to really get his mind into the mode to put something serious together these days? ...something on the order of an "Out There and Back" or "Seven Ways" again....just not sure if Paul is getting the message from his fans that this is what his fans want to see, he is going off on a tangent doing this somewhat of a hybrid type of album with a bunch of mixed styles....it's just like a bunch of projects all over the walls collab with many diff artists,,, it's definately not a solid, PVD-esque-original score...
I don't think PVD is washed up yet, I think he's still got it, production-wise....and as for his livesets and shows - they are more amazing now than ever before, I think the addition of : Ableton Live and his MacBook Pros, midi controllers and Xone 3D has added a really unique touch to his style of live mixing...and he DOES know how to use them. Sasha and PVD are on the cutting edge of live performance in this direction.
The basic deal (I think) is... now, PVD is putting alot more time and effort into his shows and live performances, and neglecting his once godgiven talent of masterminding a set of studio productions and delivering massive crowd-pleasers on vinyl...like he was doing.

Please don't. I don't think paul is guilty of anything, the way I see it is he tried to do something different (pop) and I respect that. It came out as good pop album, nothing more nothing less. But he totally erased the legend figure of edm image he had after this album and that can't be changed unless he comes out with something brilliant again. Compared to his other stuff, yes this album is and there is not excuse for it, no matter how many jobs he's working.
edit: and omg jupiter, I saw the video and then looked at your avatar and I lol'd HARD.

ok but like wozyoid or w/e your name is said...it doesnt matter that he is spending all this time doing all these other things..its a ty album. I mean u dont see athletes saying "oh well he had a press conference last night that went pretty late, so its understandable that he is playing so badly now"

I appreciate the fact that you are a fan, but look closely at the credits for all the tracks ;). PVD doesn't do all the studio work. PVD was very good in the late 90's when trance was booming. There was only one DJ that did it better, and it was Sven Vath.(believe it or not he was Trance before PVD) What he brings in terms of DJ'ing is watered down in comparison to his glory years. Where are the Tech elements? Complex structures? Gone for pop music and to compete with other so called mainstream "concert" DJ's. I do not hate him, I just think that no one should ever expect anything ground breaking from him again. This album was an attempt to get a broader audience. The cat Dolls girl is a horrid vocalist. Why else would she be on here? I will say that Ashley Tombelin has a very beautiful voice. It is just a shame that the music could not compliment it.
ps someone said i was 23 earlier in this thread. I'm older, a simple registering mistake.

OK< Alright, yes, I have to agree with you on this one. "Reflections" was moving it in this direction, and the new album basically sealed the deal. It is far much too pop-esque to be considered a real dance/mainfloor/edm album that would be respected as an "electronic, even tech" TRANCE album. It's not Trance, except for the Giuseppe Ottaviani tracks...well, uhmm..ok. It's a bunch of vocal songs with electronic elements, it's not even vocal trance.
/me goes off and sobs, realizing the catastrophic loss of the realm of an icon...in trance (one time long, long ago.)

trust me buddy I was also deeply saddened when I heard the myspace samples. And then I said " this guys, he went pop", still a huge pvd fan even wet to see him in central park but its just not the same anymore, we have to move on. Only trance top man that still has my respect is ferry.

It must be hard to disapoint people with new things by playing the same music for 5 years. The last 3 times I saw him, 3 different YEARS, almost the same set.
