I appreciate the fact that you are a fan, but look closely at the credits for all the tracks ;). PVD doesn't do all There was only one DJ that did it better, and it was Sven Vath.(believe it or not he was Trance before PVD) What he brings in terms of DJ'ing is watered down in comparison to his glory years. Where are the Tech elements? Complex structures? . |
I certainly did not mention Dj'ing once. well played...game set match. |

Perhaps instead of telling people they are not on topic(when they are I might add). How about adding something to the actual discussion. |
How is going off on a tangent about DJ'ing/Sven Väth on topic when this thread is supposedly about PvD's new album (although it all went wrong pretty much straight from the beginning)?

Just because I am arguing System-J's point, does not mean I don't respect it. I simply do not agree. I ask you, do you ever have a point, or something to add to a discussion? What are your thoughts on this topic perhaps? Please show us the way if you are so witty. |
I'm not here to "show the way" (sic) to anyone.
If you really want me to add something to this discussion, I can only say I have never really liked anything mr. van Dyk has produced (with the exception of a couple of tracks) and this new album of his only deepens my distaste for his music. As far as DJ'ing goes he's tolerable but I do feel he's pretty much stuck in a rut with it. |

I seriously hope that this isn't directed at me. |

I don't believe it. PVD was making trance as Visions of Shiva (with Harald Blüchel or Cosmic Baby) in 1992. I can't think of any trance record Sven Vath made before 1992. |
It's not really true. Sven Väth was in the Mosaic project in the end of 80s and early 90s. I have some of their tracks and they are quite trance influenced. And the Barbarella release from 1992 is also quite trancy.
Yeah Sven was never a trance only producer but he sure played a major role in founding the first trance only label. |

1992 is not before 1992. And we're bringing label founding into it, now? |

no but 1990 is. and in 1991 he also co-produced with Odyssee of Noises in their early tunes Circe, Troya and Wake Up (Before their big hit Firedance). |

Are you going to claim that Vath made an outright trance record before PVD, or are you just eager to big him up any way you can? |

No I just want to be picky to say that Sven Väth indeed made trance before 1992. Go and dig up the OoN tunes. |

I'm surprised with everyone... I thought the album was a corker and I'm really not a fan of his past productions and that includes the obvious ones - another way, for an angel etc.. I thought this was a cut above the others.
Heard most of the tracks on the new album a few months before they came out and was really impressed. I think what doesn't help PVD with his productions is placing them in an album format. A lot of his best productions are best suited to being dropped in a set peak time at 140bpm.
As regards to him copying... Well I agree in some respects, but he has a knack of turning an average record into a great record..
It will never beat Tiesto - Adajio for strings..... |

Yeah beacause Tiesto - Adagio for strings is so insanely awesome, right? |
