good job we didn't then.
to be honest, heskey did a good job of being a nusense and helping everybody else out, but still couldn't hit the target when the chances did come his way.
I thought our midfield of swp, gerrard, barry and j.cole performed far better than any gerrard and lampard combination.
I hope mclaren shows the same balls he used to recall beckham and heskey, and keep lampard out the midfield against russia. gerrard + barry or gerrard + hargreaves is far better than any combination with lampard in it. |

| That midfield won't work against a better side that offers a more attacking threat - Barry/Gerrard aren't destructive enough. I have a feeling that Hargreaves will replace Barry against Russia if he's fit. |

hey we actually managed to put on a convincing performance, even if it should have been 5 or 6 nil. All this does is lend more credence to the calls for YOUNGER players who are IN FORM. Stop worrying about the stars and just pick the players who are playing the best and maybe, just maybe, England might not disappoint all of us yet again.
Speaking of Rooney, he's been terribly disappointing in an England uniform since the 2004 Euro hasn't he? Maybe his foot should just stay broken. |

| England is one of the best teams in the world when it tries and really pulls the finger out, but motivation is the real issue. All these player's care about anymore is the premier league, they have no good reason to submit their match fitness in favour of their country instead of they clubs. Remove them from the starting line-up in place of on-paper less performing player's and make them fight for their position instead of taking it for granted. Short Term plan: Lose. (Like we wouldnt anyway.) |
