mourinho for england manager. please. |
the only downside of this would be Lampard being even more untouchable. |

| yeah but one thing mourinho isn't scared of is dropping big name players for the sake of the team. and if he can get lampard playing for england like he does for chelsea then he should be untouchable. i dont buy the gerrard & lampard can't play together crap - its like rooney said before the chelsea game: players at the highest level can play with anyone. you gotta admit - it'd be pretty ace having jose as england boss! |

what more proof do you need other than the last 3 years of mediocrity in the English mid field when Lamps and Gerrard played together? You only get so many chances and if you watch all the games, they clearly DO NOT gel together. And Gerrard is the far better player and sometimes (sometimes!) lives up to his potential while in an England jersey.
I doubt Jose would ever manage England...it's quite feasible he will pursue the Portugal job when Scolari vacates. |

i blame sven and mclaren. remember how close gerrard was to joining chelsea back in 05? if that had happened, you reckon they would still be unable to play together? i doubt it. inadequate management is to blame for all the problems in englands performances.
how can the manager of middlesbrough manage england? ridiculous. who's gonna succeed him - gareth southgate?! to be a top team you need a top manager and we certainly dont got that. |

the England manager doesn't necessarily have to be English though right? Would you have been content with Scolari or Martin O'Neill? I think I would have been.
What about Stuart Pearce? He did well with the U 21s, although he is still a bit inexperienced. I can see him as England manager within the next 5-10 years though. I don't see McClaren staying on beyond Euro 2008 but that will depend on their performance next June assuming they qualify. |

it would have been nice to have the kept the manager english, but once they got sven that all changed. now i dont care at all, scolari would have been perfect, o'neill even better. but mourinho would be superb... the man knows how to win.
i dont rate stuart pearce though, he falls into the same bracket as keegan for me - all heart and no brains.
but your right, the FA will stick with mclaren at least until euro 2008, provided we get there that is. |

what a ing joke. All they needed was a goddamn draw and they were in. I'm so sick and tired of seeing England embarass themselves on the international stage like this. Seriously...pick a manager who can actually ing manage and one who selects players who ing DESERVE to be on the team.
I can't believe how furious I am right now. What a bunch of ing losers. |

There are only so many managers u can go through before u have to start questioning the players attitude theres not alot the manager can do if they decide to playt like a bunch of fannys.
Sven used to get alot of stick but he never actually did any worse than any other previous manager the players have to start taking some of the blame the managers are being used as a cop out. |

Here we go again.
Half of me doesn't want us to qualify, I can't take a repeat of WC 2006. |

What I mean is that future England managers should be picking players who are younger and on form, not pilons like Frank Lampard and over the hill guys like Sol Campbell. I realise injuries played a part and you do have a valid point (I think I roundly criticised the players didn't I?), but enough is enough. England has enough talent that qualifying for these tournaments should not be so dramatic.
English football is sick from top to bottom. The FA needs to clean house and change their approach and a lot of players who currently wear the Three Lions jersey should never get the honour again. |

Bring in a new manager and promote the entire under-21 squad to senior level, they seem far more successful. Alternatively, Mourinho for England.
Anyway, Russia could still bottle it, but I won't hold my breath as Israel are poor. |
