my thoughts:D

What's a Spundae? Aren't they Avalano, is that a D or an O at the end? I would always get that from people when we were promoting that silly brand. "what's AVALANO?" Just ing with you guys. I love Spundae just as much as they love me. I don't really know those guys, but they seem like cool people.

I got an old school song for that situation though. The roof, the roof is on fire we don't need no water, let the mutha ****** burn, burn mutha ******, BURN. :tongue2

You obviously don't know much about construction.

Outside of a few cities in the US and mainly Europe.. it seems like LA doesn't LIKE BIG CLUBS. All the clubs people stand in freakin long ass lines for are so freakin TINY. It's supposedly all about "loungey low key" spots. I guess places that make people feel more important "if they gain access."

Mikey and Woody are right about most clubs just get renovated anyways. People in real estate are gonna look at what's more profitable.. building a club.. or building homes? Of course they'd rather build homes.

My only concern is since Avalon and Circus are large capacity venues (in comparison to many others), the only other venues left to really renovate are quite small.

I'm sure Billy is right about new clubs poppin up in Downtown. (at least I hope)... HOLLYWOOD is just too crowded build anything new and big (other than homes and parking structures).

*BTW that Parking Lot on Argyle/Hollywood that most people park at that go to Avalon is gonna be shut down for a few months and turned into an underground parking lot.. so hello to $25 parking!

You mean the parking lot where our friend works and we usually park? UGH! Parking prices are already rediculous as it is.

i usally park at the lot between the Henry Fonda and the subway stop - its 1 block away and usually $8 i think.

Yep that parking lot is the same owner .. Sunshine Parking Lots.

I spoke with him (Arnold) and told me the prices should be cheaper after the renovation of the new underground parking structure since there will be WAAAAAAAAAAY more spaces available.

I say it really depends on the DJ if people want to see them in small venues.

The reason why people are so suckered into standing in long as lines for small places because they just see long ass longs, thus the place must be hopping.

I've seen it at bigger clubs where there are a lot of people just walking around looking for a place to go...even here in SF. Ruby Skye is a good example, and it's a large club. If there's a long ass line and I'm outside, almost everytime people will just be randomly walking by and see how busy it is and then start asking the bouncers who is playing (most of the time, they have no clue who it is) and how much it costs....and lots of times, people who do this are cut to the front of the line if it assures that they will go in and Ruby gets their money. When the place isn't so busy, people walk by ask and usually just keep on going.

It's a lot about image... :)

Personally, I'd love to see more clubs in downtown LA, just so as long as it's away from lofts and stuff. Could do some awesome stuff with balconies with views and whatnot. There are plenty of old buildings on the edge of downtown (like near Mayan) that could be renovated into something special.

So when a place says that it will be up and ready for people to move in for 2008, by default you have to add two years to it because everything is two years late in being built?

The one next to me is almost done, and they are on schedule.

I recall parking being $40 next to Avalon on several occasions.

Drew i would say that most hollywood multi-family projects have been running months to years behind schedule as a general statement.
