Personally, I'd love to see more clubs in downtown LA, just so as long as it's away from lofts and stuff. Could do some awesome stuff with balconies with views and whatnot. There are plenty of old buildings on the edge of downtown (like near Mayan) that could be renovated into something special.

Unfortunately people just don't feel safe being around the Downtown, LA area at night. It has gotten better over the last couple of years. My brother actually just moved into the Medici. I was impressed! I felt like I was at a 5 star hotel! They even have their own park and tennis courts when you cross over a bridge.
When is LA Live set to open? That should definately bring new flava to DT/LA. |

Eventually something will happen...
i hope...
there has been many complaints that LA does not have any type of Downtown night life as compared to many other cities.
Like i said, we probably wont see or even notice anything for the next 4 -5 years. but just keep your eyes open |

Downtown LA used to happen. There were many clubs there. Unfortunately, it's all gone downhill. They were sweet locations too. They had a very underground feel to them.

i've been to some cool events downtown:
the 1st time Sasha and Digweed played in LA together was at the old Shark Club downtown....it was an afterhours. i'm guessing this was 1999 if memory serves. Also saw PVD at the same place for an afterhours too (Giant brought him in). we saw Fatboy Slim spin at the old Glam Slam. and obviously the many Mayan events....
def been to some good events down there. |

| Wasn't the Shark Club the Grand Avenue? I didn't know S&D played there. I know they did play at the Shrine Auditorium back in July 2000. |

yep - Shark Club = Grand Avenue.
that was their 1st LA gig together. Liquified promoted it. Sasha had played a couple of times out here before (Metropolis in OC around 96, Viper Room, also if memory serves a Christmas party one time someone did...).
the 2000 gig was put on by Giant. |

| Can't say I have too much of a problem with that.....:) Can't say I believe it either. Clubs like that don't close. They get sold. |

If that happens, I would quit working for Giant out of principle. We would just need to figure out how to keep Vanguard open later:)

if avalon and circus/arena leave, vanguard can and might increase their prices and consumers wont have a choice since there are no other competitors =( oh no!

Sorry, but I doubt that it's going to be sold. A proposal was made some time ago by the owner himself. The clubs there to be knocked down for condos. Now wouldn't that be a much wiser thing to do than to just sell the club?
Besides it will make Julia the happiest girl in Hollywood. :tongue2 |
