WOW! 28 drivers caught street racing already? I had no idea the street racing scene in Toronto was that massive. Japan and Southern Cali, EAT YOUR HEART OUT!

Edit: edited because I did not like the comma after "Japan".

the fact that 28 people already caught for excessive speeding just shows how important it is to crack down on this.

And concerning the kid who got his mom's car impounded, maybe his mom will think twice now before she lets her incapable son drive her car again. I know if my car got impounded because my son was racing with it, that would be the end of his driving days as far as i'm concerned.

He will once it's out of his system... I found excessive speeding to be a weak rush, once you've pushed the car to the limit and hit it once you've pretty much satisfied that curiousity.

That said, I agree that 50 over is a lot in the majority of situations -- but the 407 is no stranger to 160/170 speeds in the left lane (in clear conditions).

dude, night/morning time is always empty everywhere.. our highways are designed to be able to go 150 160 and even 180, if you ever driven 150 its not that fast..

btw 407, empty road you can max out your car and go any speed, yes more than 200, don't know if it designed that way but it is possible to go that speed on it.

Well I suppose if it's possible to do something then it must be safe and a good idea.

Listen, I drive fast too, very fast... but I still think this is a good law. You all know what you're doing is illegal... you do something illegal you take your chances of suffering the consequences. Don't bitch about it not being fair or just simply because you don't like it. This is both fair and, IMO, justified.

this is because IT IS YOUR OPINION, IMO it is not fair, the way it was is fair, not the way it is now, yes 150 is fast, yes if i get caught - court date, ticket, fine w/e, but being charged as a street racer (if convicted, criminal record) because i go 150 on a highway?? hahaha no ing way buddy

I dont know how I will be able to drive slow or just by the speed limit.....Thinking about it is making my brain hurt.

This change in the HTA is not just to stop street racing but also to stop excessive speeding and unsafe driving.....street racing is just one of the many things this is trying to stop....besides....if I was a cop and saw some guy bombing down the road at 150 km and/or weaving in and out of traffic....I would probably think he was racing someone anyhow.

Did you know that 33% of all car accidents are caused by drunk driving......that means 64% are caused by sober drivers....so who are the worse drivers?

Yeah, but what if the car's limit is somewhere closer to 300 km/h?! I wish they didn't sell cars that are capable of going that fast. I wish all cars were limited to whatever speed limit the government wants to set and that's it. The fact that my car can go fast, the rush of acceleration, I keep ing doing it and luckily am experienced enough to slow down before going under a bridge or always scanning the highway kilometres in advance but now that they're going to get more aerial support it freaks me out and sometimes I slow down when I'm thinking about the consequences, but other times I don't, for whatever reason. For example, almost every morning on the way to work I get so motivated when I get on that 5th lane that opens on the left side right under the 404 going westbound on the 407...downshift a couple of gears and I lose track of how fast I'm going.

I guess I won't relent until I die or something :(
