Also, the yankees clearly have the better offense, and now they have arguably the better rotation (given mat-z's problems, and the lack of a fourth starter). To add to that, Joba is now what papelbon was last year. I think the yankees are going to be hard to beat.

If there is a series that we may have trouble i think it's going to be cleveland. The short series with CC and Carmona (who btw, remember the end of his year last year? He blew about every save chance.....what a remarkable turn-around) is going to be tough. But i like the yanks chances better against the indians than the angels, call it ghosts i guess. i just don't know why the angels give the yanks so much trouble.

I really wouldn't call it weak, definitely struggling after Beckett and Curt. Dice really needs to step up. I'm not too worried about Beckett and Curt, they're big game pitchers. The offense is picking up and they play very solid defense

Every team has their holes. The Yankee starters don't look too good after Wang either. Pettitte has struggled most of September and who knows if Clemens is healthy. Huges looks like he's getting back on track and Joba is lights out. I wouldn't be so confident about Mo per say, he's very hittable now and is allowing a lot of base runners in closing situations.

Nonetheless, this is the best time of the year for baseball and I'm looking forward to these games. In a perfect world, it'll be the Redsox vs. Yankees in the ALCS.

What an outstanding performance from Josh "Cy Young" Beckett! I thought we would take game 1 but not in such a dominating fashion.

But like I said last week, our hopes depend very much on how Dice-K performs. That said, great start to the playoffs for the Red Sox. I think we showed tonight that we do a lot of things well.

I'm sorry but no one is really a favorite anymore. As last year showed with the Cardinals, the team that gets hot has the advantage. Getting to the playoffs is one thing, but everyone starts on a clean slate once it starts.

Who's to say what team goes to the WS? That's exactly why they play.

P.S - how's Priest Holmes working out for you? lmao

he's working out in great ass

Yankees fans still confident in their pitching staff?
AY STAR
that game was brutal :(
besides the pitching...
yanks need to start playing more small ball
stop looking for the big hit to win the game

i never really exuded confidence in the staff, but i still think the yankees are stronger than boston at this point of the season(than boston, im not saying they're the best). if it wasn't for how amazing beckett has been this wouldn't be a question.

that said, if you dont win it doesn't really matter how you lose. btw....at first, i didn't even know who it was that came in the game after wang. i can't believe ohlendorf is on the post season roster. he pitched 6 innings in the majors. Just one example of why torre blows. and i'll say this even if the yankees win.

I agree.

Hughes came in a pitched very well last night btw - if he can come on in the 5th and 6th and keep games close that's going to be huge for you guys. I still think you guys take this series in 5.

there is no way we were going to beat both carmona and sabathia in back to back games. Not only that, now in order to win the series we need to face sabathia again. I agree 5 games.

I think boston will be 5 games also. Escobar is going to beat dice-k tonight, and shilling will be rocky in game 3 (which isn't to say you'll lose). lucky for you, beckett is back for game 4.

It was bound to happen and I'm glad it did....As for the Yankees game,,it was like a horror movie and I have never seen anything more disgusting in my life....Joba trying to pitch with hundreds of flys biting his face was possibly the most repulsive thing I have ever seen in my life....
