absolutely not. no one in their right mind would say that ernie banks was wasted talent, even though the man never made it to the post season.
you need to play 162 games before you can make it into the playoffs. if you can't perform in those 162 games then you can't even be a professional player, therefore, your performance in the 162 games are far more important than playoff performance.

Steinbrenner told a paper that Torre's job is tied to this series? One, nonsense like this doesn't help a team play better and, second, this year Torre has done a fantastic job. Firing him at the end of this year would be a childish decision. He's not pulling a Grady Little for God's sake. |
they cant fire torre
his contract is up
so thats just a dumb statement by steinbrenner lol
i think steinbrenner and other members of yankee managment should be fired
they put too much money into buying old players and not enuff into gettin fresh young tallent
anyway onto 2nites game i feel that if clemeans hamstring dont act up
then i feel he will do good
he knows what this game means
and this is another reason why torre and yankee mangment are lacking
they dont play small ball
obviously when no one is hitting good and they are down by a run with a man on first or second with no one out and either jeter, arod, giambi etc is up they dont play small ball to try and move the man up
they just want the big dramatic walk off homerun
thats a reason why they fail |

I think boston will be 5 games also. Escobar is going to beat dice-k tonight, and shilling will be rocky in game 3 (which isn't to say you'll lose). lucky for you, beckett is back for game 4. |
boy was i wrong.
i guess the bright side of what's going down atm in the bronx is that i will be able to do other things at 7pm all october. |

Not to undercut the bitching about those calls, but the Matsui call didn't matter since he walked and the Yankees also got that check swing call for Mientkiewicz when they loaded the bases to score during the 2nd.
They haven't been capitalizing on anything all night. Right now they have 11 hits for a measly 3 runs. Unless they get their together, they deserve to lose this game. Also, taking a step back from being somewhat of a Yankees fan, the Indians have been playing pretty well and I'm glad to see that we've at least made 4 games if we lose this one. None of the other 4 series have gone that far and the Indians have been playing pretty quality ball. The number of 2 out hits that they have had thus far has been insane that stat in it's own is the sole reason that they've been winning.
On the plus side, I wouldn't pick any other set of players to have coming up in the 8th and 9th. |

that was a stupid comment!! How about "Captain clutch" who hit into a double play every time someone was on first base. He by far performed the worst of any offensive player on the team. Also, what about jorge's two hits, or matsui's non production. Cano and Hughes are the only players you can say performed well. If this series lose should be blamed on any one yankee, how about Wang?!?!?! Or even better, how about giving credit to where it's due, the Cleveland pitchers. Although, there's no reason the yankees shouldn't have scored more off of Byrd. |

I'm definitely nervous. I'm a Red Sox fan. I was born nervous haha
If Cleveland continues to hit around .500 with two outs and RISP then we're screwed. No two ways about that.
Sabathia and Fausto are the real deal but Westbrook and Byrd are not. Fausto will out pitch Dice-K, Beckett will out pitch CC. I'll take Schilling over Westbrook in the playoffs any day and Byrd vs. Wake/Lester is who the fak knows and let's turn it over to the pens.
I think, though, that our line up is perfect right now. High OBP at the top, power in the middle, speed at the bottom and we have home field, which is a huge advantage. Sox in 6.
If Gagne pitches at all, Cleveland in 5. |

HAHA....that's the truth!!
I think cleveland would be smart to move carmona into the one hole; his stuff is better than Beckett's stuff imo. Sabathia would take out Dice-K, Shill would beat westbrook, and it's a toss up between Byrd/boston fourth starter.
I was much more impressed with Clevelands batting than pitching. The yankees are to blame for the today, they had ample opportunities. However, their hitters were smacking balls into no mans land that were 6 inches off of the plate. It's not like the yankees pitchers were giving them meatballs! I always respected Sizemore, but now there is no doubt in my mind he is in the top 5 best all around players in baseball. |
