Rangers 6-0-0 against the Devils this season :)

Combined with Man U up 3 points in the premiership and Chelsea dropping points, it's been a GREAT sports day for me

I would almost feel for you but the Devils beat my Avs on Saturday and we needed that game...also your goalie is going to go into history books as the best because of his numbers and it's not like he accomplished those spectacular numbers all by himself. whatev

usually i agree with your hockey insight but your statement about him getting the #'s he has because of others is dumb. look at the devils defense this year and look at his #'s. do you see that much of a difference to the past? no neidermayer, no stevens....still the same marty.

roy is a great goalie but let's not forget that he bitched his way out of montreal to go to a team that loaded up on talent that helped him win the cup in 96 and was there in the latter stages of his career. what would have happened if he had stayed in montreal? i will give the nod to patrick when asked who is the best goalie of all time simply because of trophies and the 2001 finals but to say that brodeur is a product of his team is just dumb. i know you are an avs fan but i expect more out of you.

snappy are we? and to disagree is one thing to say i'm dumb is just incorrect. no doubt in my mind marty is a good goalie but think about what type of system the devils have played. they've played the trap for a solid decade, imo he probably hasn't faced as many shots because he has almost always had a solid team in front of him. is he great at what he does, of course but realistically from when he was winning cups to now the league as a whole has changed. he's definitely not facing the all the strong clubs as much as he was in the past. honestly, he faces division rivals six times in a year, that's a lot o free points depending on who you are playing. also, the majority of the teams with the highest goals fielded averages are in the Western Conference which they either don't face or play against once. i believe the west overall is stronger and that has something to do with his great season.

yeah roy had a great team in front of him, that was without a doubt but they were more offensive players and defensive so my assumption is he faced more shots. for him to pull off one of his best seasons EVER during his last year in the league is simply amazing. he won the cup as a rookie in 1986 and what he has brought the game is irreplaceable. in my mind he perfected the butterfly technique and was just so technically sound. perhaps i shouldn't have written it so harshly but the sucess of the devils is largely due to defense and with the goaltender being the last line of defense you can't help but give it up to his team and in the case of the devils nobody executed the trap as proficiently as they did.

Martin Brodeur is the best, has always been the best, and will always be the best. I think the FSNY commentator said it best, maybe not in terms of Roy vs. Brodeur but a Hasek vs. Brodeur. He said, numbers are one thing, but the way Brodeur is the center of the team is testament of him being number one. He is THE ROCK as much as I can't see too many other goalies. It's an intuitive thing, and I don't see Lundqvuist being that, as good as he is. Hasek wasn't that either. Roy, yes, maybe... but I'm obviously a bit partial... He had a big mouth, was arrogant, and when put up to Brodeur for comparison, I can't help but say Brodeur is the exemplary team player, and a true class-act, one that the NHL will NEVER forget.

I'll be at the Devils-Rangers game Thursday @ MSG and I can't wait to fight someone!!! :whip: :stongue:
