That's not minimal, but 'minimal'. Still, point proven.

It's a lot more difficult than you think. More to it than meets the ear.

And please for s sake stop with the whole this isn't minimal it's 'minimal' bullcrap, God is that annoying.

For the love of god, minimal isn't a genre. It's an approach to making music, and it's a route techno has gone down the last 3-4 years.

What this thread should say is "only geeks listen to techno", which was somewhat true about 15 years ago. Now techno nights are full of people who'd rather network with their friends and hog the bar than dance, and techno has changed accordingly.

As far as I'm concerned, the geeks and nutters need to be brought back to techno asap. Maybe then things would start to get interesting again.

When Richie Hawtin was a bespectacled geek from Canada, he belted out massive tunes like FUSE - Substance Abuse and created head soundtracks like Plastikman - Sheet One. These days he's a fashion icon with his own hair stylist, and his music is about as interesting as watching paint dry.

If that isn't evidence enough that the geeks need to come back, then I don't know what is.

not to get into the subject of can you do better but have you tried producing before? it takes more than 10 minutes per song. they dont just do the song and thats it, there is a lot more that goes into it.

@GILLES:

Do you know that being Minimal (in general) requires skills? Minimal painting, minimal music. It's not about doing as close to nothing as possible, but it's about doing the minimum of what it takes to make something (like music).

Many minimal artists deserve more respect than most trance producers nowadays.
