There's some kind of big ol' mall there that I've been hearing about right? Maybe I can find a white bikini there.

underground mall is nice but don't forget canadian taxs are high. ~15% is not worth it imo and no use waiting until the day before...with that said i still need accessories |

| Yikes! 15% That's a bit extreme. Guess everyone at home will have to suffer with inexpensive souvenirs. Did you ever find a white wig Wai? I'm downloading TV shows onto my iPod now for the bus ride :D (Thanks for giving me the idea Molly) |

WHAT A ING PARTY!!!!!!!!! as usual, paarty of the year for me.....and I think others will agree, since for the FIRST time since I started going, both the house rooms AND the trance room was PACKED at 11am. wowwwwwww! That was a new experience entirely.....

(apologies ahead of time for the all-over-the-place review)......sleep deprived and not totally functioning yet :(...........
We were lucky having VIP, we literally had zero line, and was past the security in less than 10 minutes. :) Got in line, after finding all of our friends, around 11:15-11:30 or so. Guess we JUST made the cut for the longest line in BEB history. Didnt even realize that people had to wait for soo long, because a couple friends of ours waited in the regular lineup, and it took them only about an hour?? Wanst like that in past years that I have been...never had a problem, even in the regular lineup......
This was my 5th Bal, and things were different this year (cons first):
Decor:
The decorations were clever, but lack luster. I come to BEB for the ambience of it all, and it wasnt the same in that sense. No huge, flowwy curtains in the massage area, no big lights, no crazy decor. However, that was my ONLY complaint. (oh wait, that AND no preach!! def sad at 9am when I realized my main man wasnt coming on as he usually does!!)
I went there for music and to see friends from canada, and that I did! :) I couldnt take the smile off my face. I was in absolute clubbing-sinful-heaven....and being around friends (old and new). Couldnt stop moving, dancing, laughing, reminiscing.....
Music:
Insomnia was great for the 20 minutes we saw her. IM is not my taste, but being in VIP and seeing the crowd go MAD had me truly hyped for the rest of the evening to come. They clearly had the crowd by the balls. ;) We spent most of that time catching up with old friends, which was perfect...
Ferry is always my fav, and armin destroyed it!! I have never seen menno live and I was truly looking forward to it. I was a little apprehensive about seeing menno at 9am, because he usually plays a little fluffier than I would want at that hour. BOY WAS I F*CKING WRONG!!!!! (proof was in seeing Fahad and his towels going APE for 2 hours straight....you couldnt even TALK to the man!!) hahah!
:eyes:  Menno was AMAZING, and my energy was higher at 9-11am then it was all damn night!!! The three dutchmen destroyed with trance-classic-techy-mixed HEAVEN :) :) The flow was JUST PERFECT.....I LOVED that ferry dropped the classics (goryella, system F, etc) because it was the perfect trance-y buildup for the disaster that armin and menno gave us. wow. just wow. Never stopped dancing, and only took one break to the rest room....I was too afraid to miss anything!! Got to chat with ferry, and heard some amazing news from him ;) Always a pleasure to catch up with him, so friendly and funny as hell! Menno is also such a sweetheart and very loving towards his fans :) :) He recongnized my TA name (lol, I heard it ALL night: "you're yankeebaby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!WAAHHHH!!!")...........and asked if I was dissapointed in his set. haha! are you kidding? He was better than I ever imagined he could be and I told him so. haha the poor kid looked destroyed at 11;30 am and said he needed sleep BADLY!! :) :) Awesome energy from his set, jumping (all 6'9" of him!) up on the decks, and getting the crowd at insane levels!! :) I have NEVER seen either room so packed at 9am-12pm. I tried to go on the floor around 10am, and after 10 minutes of getting squished and jumped all over by the menno-mayhem, I was like "f*ck this, I got VIP for a reason!!)
Heard mixed reviews about the house room. Saw Ceasar, and he was pretty good. I was hearing about the house room getting DESTORYED about 2-3am from many friends, but I couldnt leave mr. corsten :) The finale of our night was Victor Calderone. :eyes: What a perfect way to end the night. insane. I coulndt have asked for a better way to end. Nada called it tribal-tech. lol I learn something new everyday. ;) I might have a new genre to learn about :) awesome.
Btw^^ I love the gays they are nice to look at and super friendly as long as you dont interrupt their blow jobs ;) ;)
People:
This year is the first year that I can say that the men looked better than the women. wow. I dont care who was gay or who was straight, my eyes were waaandering!! :stongue: yummy tight white pants with gucci belts everywhere!! The women were hot until you saw the same "hot women" in the hallway at 8am. :nervous: haha I, myself, looked pretty damn good for most of the night until the dancing truly took over....whoaaaa. sketchy 8am-bathroom-run-in with the mirror!! haha I didnt even recognize myself. lol ;)
All in all, I am still smiling from the insanity of the event. INSANE toons, my fav DJ's, sooo many friends to catch up with (and even people from MTL that I didnt even expect to see!!).
Music 9/10
People: 9/10
Decor: 3/10
VIP: 10/10....sooo much space to dance and only 10 minutes of line :)
sooo many funny stories that I will inject once I remember. One of the best was people wanting to play with Wai's FRO ALL night. SKETCH!! The security searched for drugs like she had lice, the TV station did a full on interview about her wig and outfit, people were touching it, asking if it was her hair, and even searched for things IN it. Weird seeing people PAWING through your friends hair. tres sketch!! :nervous: |
edit: sorry, some of my comments are in response to the MTL TA's. so some of it may not be clear (ie: the lines, the gays, etc.....) |

Anyhow, VIP was the best thing I could have done. From getting in line to hitting the dance floor took a grand total of maybe 10min. Two people in our group didn't get VIP and it took an hour to get in. On our end, security wasn't too thorough, they were more concerned about what I could hide in my white fro and didn't even check my wristlet.
The decor was substandard, this is only my second BeB but is it too difficult to ask for more lights and some more decorations. The stained glass they had above the booth in the tech-trance room was hardly ever highlighted with lights so you couldn't even enjoy that. the lights on the side of the room would have nicely complimented an insane laser show but unfortunately the organizers weren't particularly concerned with the ambiance. In the short time I was in the house room, it looked better imo. I wished for more...I think the blah theme also made it hard for people to dress up in costumes.
Insomnia - Good, always love seeing a female DJ rip it up behind the decks
Infected Mushroom - Made me wish I didn't get there so early. Not my type of music and quite honestly they shouldn't have been in such an early time slot. I sat down in the VIP area then hoping for it to be done. Would have stayed in the house room but one person in our group would go off at a time, we would wait for them to return then someone else went off and it just ended up that we heard a majority of their set.
Ferry - Started early and it sucks he went right after such a fast paced group. He was at a disadvantage having to go after IM and knowing he had to open up for Armin. Anyway, I wasn't a fan of his set at all. He played some good stuff (Don't Look Behind You :happy2: (track I was hoping he'd play) but I never really got too into his set. I was borderline disappointed.
Armin - He started out his set with Arnej - They Always Come Back which I f*cking love!!! I didn't think my energy levels could spike up that high at 5am but Armin kicked my ass like I would never have expected. Markus Schulz is my absolute favorite DJ and the first 45 min or so of Armin's set had a Markus written all over it. He transitioned to playing some banging tracks. I know some didn't expect him to play that hard but what they hell else is he supposed to do from 5am - 9am??? Carte Blanc (Cosmic Gate Remix), Back to San Francisco (??? remix / rework), La Guitarra, Brazen, Perfect (blanking on the mix, not Agnelli & Nelson), older tracks I don't know what they are called but love were just nuts . When I didn't think I could dance any more he threw down some nasty tribal sounding mashups of As the Rush Comes and Rapture it was ri-damn-diculous!!!
I will admit the bass messed up the speakers baaaaaaaaaadly, there was a point where I felt my ears would start bleeding but luckily they are fine :). Armin broke the speakers...
Menno - Like everyone else he couldn't play a traditional Menno de Jong set but dear god did he bang it out proper. He played some great up tempo trance tracks and had a toooooooon of energy. I was looking forward to him spinning the most since I've never caught a live set from him and he definitely didn't disappoint. By this point in my night my body was just crying for rest, sat in the VIP area for a bit but the music had me at my feet quickly. Plus going on straight adrenaline I KNEW the longer I remained inactive I would shutdown quickly.
Overall, great night imo. Came up with 4 other people but fortunately chatted with a ton of people (pretty much ALL TAs) and had fun. Lately, I've been "eh" about going out but BeB was just fun in almost every way so that was refreshing to say the least. Definitely looking forward to next year although I walked in able bodied and now I feel like a cripple (slightly limping because I re-injured an old injury dancing :() |
I've never had so much damn fun in my life...seriously. From La Mouche and Time the night before to 11am Monday morning. Armin was a damn monster of greatness and Menno couldn't have been better. I don't think I could even convey how awesome the event was... |

OMG ladies, how was lamouche??
That was once upon my sweet Aria home away from home. It was the first afterhours club I ever stepped foot into and cried when it closed. :(
I can't ever see this place being something it once was.
I saw pics, but I need the word first hand please :) |

It seems you had a great time based on your review. Why are all of the other people on the Montreal forums hating and saying it was horrible? In your opinion do you still think this event is worth returning to even with the lack of organization and other issues? |

^^ yeah ive been wondering the same thing.
Wai, love your look, Im glad you were able to pull it all together. How crazy it must have been to have everyone notice it like that! And to be featured! woohoo, exciting :) |

people bitch for no reason, it's a massive so expect to wait in line. i did it last year! i had VIP so no problems with the line, bathroom or organization; decorations left much to be desired but in all honesty i was there for the music not pretty visually stimulating things. from where i was on the stage i could see a sea of people which was an interesting sight to see for sure. so i had a clear view of the crowd and the DJ booth (i was right next to the sound guys) and the vip area was not overcrowded at ALL. i had a prime spot to dance, meet some nice people and friends of friends so the area around me was full of a good 20 people i would say i liked.
the music was ridiculous, i didn't like ferry's set but at the end of the day it was still a good set. all i had that night to keep me awake was red bull (no alcohol) and if the music wasn't good i would have left so just by me being there for 11 HOURS that says a LOT. keep in mind i was dancing the whole time even though i was starting to shutdown physically during menno's set...it was a great party and i couldn't make myself leave to sleep or rest because it was just that good. |
