Here is where we are:
http://www.icasualties.org/oef/
469 US troop deaths in Afghanistan
http://www.icasualties.org/oif/
3883 US troop deaths in Iraq
= 4,352 ruined families.
Thrown in 600 civilian deaths (contractors), and we stand at 5,000 dead Americans, and another 40,000 seriously injured.
We have also killed 80,000 civilians in Iraq alone, and another 15,000 in Afghanistan...which has surely created AT LEAST that amount of new radical muslims intent on harming us. There are now two civil wars going on simultaneously, and recruitment for Al-Queda is at record levels.
But hey, we got 40 bad guys. It's all good.
God bless America. |

Well put. Articles like these make you really question how the Administration can play so fast and loose with facts that lead to war. |

dont get that piece of sh*t get a suburban ;)
I mean why be in denial that we are winning in Iraq and that we are going in the right track. But I guess that the anti american movement led my Opus is really strong in promoting negative propaganda.
we can win tomorrow and you would have this anti american movement still be in denial. that is why i dont take things seriously around here, people really have to mature and accept the facts |

See, the thing is Latin... and I don't know how to put this. But there's no evidence to suggest that we will or even can at this point. In all honesty, I really want to know, what do you think a "win" would look like? Maybe it's just an issue of my standards for victory being higher than yours, or maybe you truly do see everything in a rose-colored lens. But what is happening in Iraq is not a "win" for anyone in Iraq or in the United States, by any stretch of the imagination. |

You do realize we are nowhere near that? And that death and destruction has only increased since the US got involved there? |

You obviously havn't a clue at what is happening on the ground there.
Keep thinking we're "winning".
40 less bodies found dumped per night, great success! |

Oh god the ing IRONY...
:stongue: :stongue:
Have you read ANY serious exposes about what is going on there right now? Do you have any idea of what kind of "winning" strategies are being used?
All we've done is buy ourselves some time. Once the surge ends (since it is impossible to sustain) it will be the same over and over again. I just read about an Iraqi who is helping US forces find Sunni militia men since they killed his brother by accident. He has decided to kill 10 militia-men for each finger on his brothers hands. He wont stop till he gets to 100, and he's given the noses, adams apples, and ears of his victims to his mother, who placed them at her son's grave as tokens of revenge. These are the people we are working with to achieve this "success". This is just one small example...
But yes, keep thinking a peaceful and democratic Iraq is just around the corner. All you need to do is define "success" in whatever ed up way you please... |
