i typically use many different instruments to make a bassline...
something in the bottom maybe like kick bass kick bass. usually a low omph sound to keep rhythm...then i usually add another bassline or two to it to give it that fullness

Coming in from a completely different background (jazz/blues and metal), I've been experimenting with bass lines that have double hits at the end, and also syncopate in anticipation of a buildup.

best way for me to do this would be to show a pic (I like to work in A minor BTW)


Here is an example of a bass line that I've been working on. the actual notes in the bass line are 2 octaves below what's written, but I didn't want to deal with the mess of ledger lines.
