This thread is gold...lots of help for the new guys. I'll keep posting other basslines to help out. Hopefully others will do the same. :)

Rico, those b-lines are gorgeous. My ears probably aren't as good as yours, though. How did you create them?

Oh, and I'm liking the melody over the second one. Sounds like that could be very pretty trance.

Always keep low sounds panned dead centre, a panned low bass sound will quite often skip the needel.

When I create basslines I will layer, one layer with a highpass filter on it set right down low so I can use FX without it being too muddy. The other a lowpass to keep it low and rhymical.

skytribe, thanks for the compliment. I used Reason 2.5...the bassline and the weird trance lead are using the Subtractor synth's INIT PATCH and I just tweaked the knobs to get that sound. I then used the RV7000 to get the delay/reverb, exported the file and compressed a little bit in Cubase SX using the Classic Master Limiter...you know...to raise the volume a little bit since Reason screws the sound quality and volume when exporting. I like my hardware synbths better but they're all unplugged so I had to use my laptop with Reason to do the quick basslines :)

how about making basslines like probspot-foreplay and blueberry or depeche mode - only when i lose myself (lexicon ave rmx). basically like deep sounding prog/prog trance basslines. like i know how to do them with the keyboard and stuff but actually making a sick sounding bassline is the hard part? any takers?

btw i use fruity and vST's and not reason..

Ouch, I don't know how to do it in bassline diagram..it's pretty easy, though. It's like dadadada dada :p

Somebody figure it out in bassline diagram...I've never done it like that. :D

Yes.

But do you need help with the bassline or making a good patch? I haven't used FL in over a year, so I would have to find it, install it and play with it to make a good patch. Is that what you need? :)
