That's an atrociously bad analogy. My Albino 3 will sound exactly the same in FL or Live, so that breaks your theory right there.

It's not a n00b program. Sure the workflow may not be ideal but that's a personal preference. I started with FL and I don't consider it noob, even though I don't use it anymore.

Go tell Maor Levi that his music sounds like it's made by a noob and that he will eventually move to a "better" sequencer

look at this fruity loops usin guidos default myspace pic, with the headline "Trance Stud!~" right next to it. God damnit. It makes me sick.

Did you even read about what i said about aftermarket plugins? I'd like to see someone produce a single with ONLY fruityloops instruments and effects.

yeah just like everyone who uses cubase, logic or ableton only uses their internal plugins :)

fl has got a lot of excellent high quality plugins. i really don't know where this all started, but i'm guessing one guy tryied the 2.x demo and fooled around a bit with the plugins and then told everyone they sucked.

on effect side fl has wonderful good sounding great interface fx such as: love philter, flangus and delay bank. and lots of really light on cpu usage, good quality easy to use smaller plugins like their eqs, delay2 and reverb2.

and what comes to it's own synths, mainly ts404 and 3xosc, sure they aren't comparable to commercial big synths. but they are both really light and produce dry signal when you need one. most synths have bunch of fx internally that's one of the main reasons they sound so good, so naturally you gotta add some effects for these two too.
i personally love 3xosc since it's so easy and light, i use it mostly for fx, percs and expecially for bassline, like 80% of time. and a lot of people have asked me how i do my allende basslines since they sound so good.

and that audio engine thing is just as much crap as that sampler debate there was going a year or two ago. there was some site online that tested few sequencers with same vsti and their samplers and didn't find any difference in audio quality on any of them.
just like that "logic's sampler sound worse than cubase's"-debate, which all started when some dumbass had the filter turned on logic's sampler, these things always start from someone's incompetence.

oh and if someone has used fl studio for 5 years and then tryies logic and fells in love with it, that's great! everyone should use the software they are most comfortable with. but that doesn't mean everyone also agrees that logic is better than flstudio if one guy does. i personally have tested more or less all the sequencers just to see what fits best for me. i used logic for a year and i liked it, but i couldn't get as good sound out of it as i can with flstudio, plus it took a whole lot more time to produce. but that was the 5.x version on pc, if i would switch to mac i would definitely give a logic another chance.

It's been done here on these boards, although I can't recall who did it. Sounded perfectly fine.

Personally, I think 3xOsc is one of the best synths out there, especially when it comes to basslines. You have a whole lot of control over oscillators, filters, and especially envelopes, and if you're like me and use external effects for everything anyway, then it works perfectly fine.

BEHOLD OUR POWER:

I love this synth for white-noise sweeps and effects, basslines, and I've even gotten lucky with leads every now and then.

unfortunately, fruity loops will always be seen as a beginners software package, until its name/marketing is changed. i have never used it but remember when fruity first appeared it seemed to me like a 'ejay' style software that those who used it always aspired to move onto cubase or logic. now i hear music coming out of it that i would imagine coming from a mega expensive studio. it is capable of more than suitable sound quality from what i have heared. but i know logic will rinse the out of the mixdown sound quality.

fruity isnt , i avoided it because of the image it once had - which had stuck in my closed minded head. now im glad i avoided it because moving to the equally priced cubase sl2.0 meant im fluent in cubase. it's just looked at as a more professional option from what i hear from the majority.

I believe now its called exclusively FL Studio for that very reason, although they still have some of that fruit image.

all i can say is...

Hah.

:wtf:

Luke Terry

A sequencer is a sequencer is a sequencer

You can't just say one is , it just isn't true. The simple fact is that loads of professional tance producers use different sequencers, and you would be hard pushed to tell who uses which.

James Holden & Gerry Cueto amongst others use Buzz. That thing is like the matrix to me. I've used loads of sequencers with lots of different producers doing all sorts of stuff. Most of that has never left my cd wallet. I feel most at home using FL5 in the studio with the virus kc nowadays (that is whenever I actually get time :(). I certainly wouldn't be able to tell what tracks I produced in which sequencer if I didn't already know through the experience of making them.
