| i think it is all like supermarkets in all honesty , they all sell the same stuff and come with there own brands and feature items but the whole thing comes down to price in which one you purchase from and so forth the snobby purchase from the expensive store but the poor obviously purchase from the cheap store , but at the end its all the same stuff in different packages except for the feature items(own brands), but as a comparison if someone rendered refx nexus after midnight1 in 512bit 320kbps in fl and then the same in cubase does it sound different??????????????? |

...so much for the tool of choice. In the right hands, with a great idea, a simple tracker can produce a hit.
I used to dismiss FL as a toy before but nowdays you have to recon with results, not what was used.
Many producers are going to software only, Yahel, Airbase, even Prodigy, and many more... So, the proof is still in the puddin', dear. |

yes, cubase has different pan laws. once you start to add effects and change levels, the intricacies of the "audio engine" will become apparent. does it matter though? no. |

What the hell?
Most producers use samples. You can load samples somehow into any DAW.
Most producer use VST(i)'s. You can load vst(i)'s somehow into any DAW (save reason).
People who are bickering about 32 bit mixing algorithms vs 24 bit or whatever need to shut the up and worry about their own skills, which is 99% the limiting factor in a production's quality.
IMO opinion the differences between DAW's boil down to how you place notes and set parameters. You can't hear the difference between a note placed in Cubase or in Fruity. I'm not saying there's no difference in the sound between cubase and fruity. What I am saying is that a difference doesn't imply hierarchical order.
PS I went from cakewalk to cubase to fruity. I think intuitive use beats anything, because by hands-on playing you make actual tracks. |

FL Studio is awesome.
I actually hate talking crap about any program, but if we're gonna talk crap about programs, I personally think Reason needs to be trashed.
I LOVE the redrum, I LOVE the maelstrom (sp). Subtractor, combinator almost everything in it.
But its piano roll is a joke.
Doesn't support vsts (which is = DAW genocide imo)
And its selectivity in samplers which only open specific files sucks.
I used to for 2 years. Now have been using FL for another 2-3 years and I myself producing sounds in 5 mins that would have taken 5 hours with Reason.
Than there are industry standards, but some of those programs have options I could care less about and I'm sure 99% of people most likely don't even use.
The only aspect about FL Studio I don't like is I oddly feel like a child everytime I use it with the fruits and general interface graphics. At least compared to Reason which looks real and professional.
But I still think Reason needs to sell off each of their instruments as vsts to the general public, get rid of the whole reason file crap, and shut the program down and make money off selling commercial versions of something like the redrum. |
