Amsterdam, 17th of December 2007 – Armin van Buuren, worlds number 1 DJ, will perform a challenging and mind blowing 9 hours set at the 3rd edition of Armin Only on Saturday the 19th of April 2008. After two successful editions at the Ahoy in Rotterdam Armin will take Armin Only Imagine to the Jaarbeurs in Utrecht. Like the two previous Armin Only`s Armin will be backed up by several surprise acts and artists.
“That I got voted number 1 DJ by the readers of DJ Mag” says Armin,” made me decide to go a little bit bigger this year. That`s why we chose Jaarbeurs Utrecht to be the venue of choice to have Armin Only Imagine. During this show all the pieces of the puzzle will fall together in a spectacular setting that will go above your imagination!”
The theme of this edition of Armin Only is Imagine, this will also be the title of Armin`s forthcoming artist album, which will hit the stores on the same day as Armin Only Imagine. The theme is set to tease the unique senses us people have.
that would be insane, 9 hour set :eek: DAMB, i cant wait to buy this dvd. i hope he records the full 9 hours and bonus photage on the dvd.....

u cant handle the fact that armin is now the third trance dj to make it huge. Paul oakenfold started this back in the early 90's. Tiesto then came in and made it more bigger than anyone to date.
Now Armin is going to even surpass the previous two.

He still is a trance dj. Please show me how he is getting commercial? He still makes en trance. The only difference is its for a wider range of audience now.

Some of us have other jobs. Until trance was big, so did Armin. If my memory serves me correct, he was actually pursuing (and passed) the BAR to become a lawyer. We may not choose to make music as a living, but that does not disqualify us from forming a critique.

You missed the point entirely.
I personally am a huge (HUGE!) Oakenfold fan, always have been, always will be. Music should never be about 'surpassing' the ones that come before you. It should always be about expressing yourself.
Tiesto was awesome, and I believe he truly deserved it in 2002. But, he fell under the same spell as Oakenfold: "#1 ranking". When you start promoting yourself as the #1, and instead of as a guy who plays music, which he cares about, then you have lost your way.
The only reason you use the #1 title is to gain more listeners. 'He is number 1, he must be good'. That is the idea behind commercial. Gaining more fans, for the sake of having more fans. Oakenfold was guilty of it, then Tiesto, now Armin.
When was the last time you heard Sasha, Digweed, or Carl Cox advertise them selves as the #1? You don't. They continue to go out, play music, and have fun.
Before you blindly support a producer, DJ or anybody, please look at the history, facts, and context. Find out what is really going on, or what has happened.
Let the music speak for itself.
