Woow, this cat definitely does NOT speak on behalf of the rest of us Montrealers... That weekend was one of the best I've experienced in
a number of years that I've been living here. I wasn't even on any drugs and I can tell you the music was pure bliss.
Ricardo's opening set was superb. Ricardo was playing 99% vinyl,
so when Dandy Jack came on there was a subtle difference in sound quality when moving from analog to digital - so ing what. Dandy Jack's funk flavored grooves kept the party lively and anxious to hear the duo jam out. When these two finally performed, every element they used to layer onto the next was just mind-blowing... The attention to detail is what makes they two guys true musicians. If the dirty low end bassline seemed to be drowning out the room, they would exchange a few words and Dandy would introduce some subtle percussion alongside the perfect blend of glitchy crackles. What a ride that was to hear in the middle of the dancefloor. Ricardo then took to the decks and utterly destroyed the room to pieces, to which he closed off his solo set with his latest "Enfants" release.
At this point, 6am, we went over to the afterparty to warm things up until the rest arrived... Ricardo and Dandy Jack plugged their laptops in and performed a deep minimal tech-house part of their live p.a, which beautifully added another daytime dimension to the whole Ric y Martin experience. These guys laid it proper for almost 6 straight hours. We had a cocktail of guests from all over join us for this party. Friends from L.A, Chicago, Berlin, New York, Boston, and people from other Canadian cities like Toronto and Quebec. A night for the books, an unforgettable experience, sincere and respectful friends and guests - what more can one ask for :toocool:
We are definitely looking forward to Ricardo's next appearance, and there's a small clue that lead us to believe Luciano and Ricardo will hopefully be performing for Mutek's 10 year anniversary next year. Don't quote me on that just yet, for it's a while till then.

For the most part, the reviewer is correct, and I believe most people tend to see the negative tone of the review, but I don't think it was meant that way.
However, the reviewer made a big mistake. With leaving at 5 am, he missed out on a superb Villallobos set. His use of enfants was magistral

Well from midnight to 5 thats already 5 hours, if its not happening after 5 hours what makes you think it'll happen after...
people are patient, but there's a limit.

thats not the point. if you dont like him after the first 5 hours, of course it's better to leave. but either you like villalobos or you don't.
he is still a genius producer and a brilliant DJ

i love villalobos, as you said he is a great producer and even better dj, but i left because of the live p.a.
i did not like it. and im sure if villaobos would have played an 8 hour set i would have stayed the whole night.
