The fact you don't make any sense? First you ridgedly define pasta as chinese now if I were to cook a haggis in America it's an "american dish".

Because you wan't logic to work in both directions to your benefit.

Anything American must be a German/British food because there is a different meal cooked in the same way there? Well therefore arent those dishes just copying ancient cultures that were cooking that way when you were still cooking over an open fire?

You have terrible debate skills, you manage to argue on opposite directions in the same breath, when you aren't just insulting people.

Is it . Pot roast or "cooking" meat is not a new american recipe.

How can you possibly even conceive that is true? Otherwise what the are you talking about?

lol

yeah, I didn't think pot roast was a specific dish, just some kind of meat cooked in a pot.

Ok simple terms....

In what way is cooking a bit of meat.... (you are basiclly talking about roast beef by the way or hot pot) uniquely american in so making that an american dish?

Or are you saying there are no "american dishes"?

Roast Beef is cooked in a different way. If Roast beef is a famous
British dish, this is the American equivalent. Look up some recipes to see that it isn't just a bit of meat, there are other things in there.

I am glad you are able to laugh at yourself.

It is often said that the ability to laugh at oneself is a most positive of traits.

What? You've not given one example to prove your point that a single american dish exists?

You've just diverted away.

At very best, nearly all the "American" food mentioned to date is really just a bland copy of a much better dish originating elsewhere in the world. Sorry Yanks, for the most part your food (just like Canadian food with the exception of Quebecois and Newfie food) is nothing more then your attempt to cook something from another part of the world using locally available ingrediants. This is the reality of having a culture that is reall just an amalgamation of other cultures rather then something wholey unique.

BTW, where did the thread starter have this fish and chips?

I think that's just kind of what happens when a country is made up of a bunch of immigrants (i.e. there aren't really any "Americans" at all unless you're talking about the natives who we've all but made extinct).

And it honestly shocks me how often people have conversations like this. If you can't find something good wherever you are in the world, you're just ing lazy. Period.
