generally speaking if its brewed in the US, it sucks until proven tasty... and not many have managed to pass that bar. |
Some of the best beers in the world are brewed in the US. |

how can you like Export and hate 50? |
Easy... every time I take a sip of 50 I feel like back-woods Quebecer driving a ski-doo through the forest looking for moose with the horrid stench of pea soup oozing out of ever one of my poores while signing Alouette or what ever the that stupid bird song is.
In short... it's a beer for people who listen to Radio 1 and/or watch the Beachcombers and it remindes them of their childhood.
To everyone reading this from someplace other then Canada... you cannot understand this, don't even try. |

| Anyone tried Bells Oberon? Thats a popular beer from Kzoo Michigan. It sucks now that it isn't seasonal though. |

Seriously, I can't think of too many good American beers. This is not to say they don't exist, I'm sure there are some (every area has a good micro brewery); however, most of it is just . I think the same way about most American food products... this is likely a result of mass production; if you want to mass produce something then you have to make it acceptable to the largest possible number of people, to do that you have to appeal to the lowest common denomonator, which means your product will be considered weak sauce by anyone with any taste. |

Alesmith IPA
Three Floyds Dark Lord
AleSmith Speedway Stout
Kuhnhenn Raspberry Eisbock
Hair of the Dog Adam
Surly Darkness
New Glarus Belgian Red
Russian River Pliny the Elder
Three Floyds Alpha King
All considered to be some of the best beers in the world.
I don't think they make a humble beer but if they did you would probably like it. |

good beers: amber ales/lagers, anything with flavor
bad beers: anything that lacks flavor, tastes watered down, or tastes too bitter
i tend to really favor beers with sweet dark rich flavors. not a huge fan of bitter or light tasting beers.
and whoever says America doesn't make good beer probably hasn't taken the time to try anything more adventurous than Miller/Bud/Coors/etc products. there are so many smaller/local breweries that just don't get distributed beyond a certain point, so it's a lot harder to find them, but they're out there.
although... my favorite beer in the entire world is from Montreal. |

I've never heard of any of them; however, that shouldn't be surprising since they are all, presumably, micro brews. I must ask; however, considered to be some of the best by whom exactly? |
