This is one of the funniest things I have read today, and that's saying something. You know absolutely nothing about beer. You have not in any way described the process of brewing beer correctly.
This is like a McDonalds employee telling Gordon Ramsay how to cook or a film student telling Kubrick how to direct or a learner driver telling a Formula 1 driver how to drive.
I don't normally like belittle people but you leave me very little choice today. |
As I stated in response to your PM, I do not consider myself an expert on beer and I'm not trying to pass myself off as such. I'm mearly pointing out that it takes more then a passion for something to be considered an expert. You cite a master chef, an accomplished director, and a generic race car driver as contemporaries of yours. What you fail to realize is that the examples you cite are persons who have education, experience, and accomplishments which is what establishes them as experts (although I would consider a formula one driver to be an expert on driving a race car but not driving in general). If you have any credentials that establish you as an expert on beer then you have failled to share them with us; however, I invite you to do so. Until you can establish your expertise then you simply remain someone who drinks a lot of beer and feels the need to share your opinion with others. |

funny, i know alot of people who are half decent cooks, yet they couldnt make a decent homebrew to save themselves....
i would take the word of a professional chef over my mother (who is a fantastic cook) any day of the week when it comes to gastronomic endeavours.
when it comes to beer, i would respect the opinion of a Brewmaster (also known as braumeister), whom in order to obtain that title requires 2.5 yrs study into the art of beer making, over the opinion of an internet troll or self proclaimed beer affectionado. Brewmasters earn the equivalent of a masters degree in beer making. |
Wrong wrong wrong.
Qualifications in brewing mean nothing to anyone but the largest breweries. They teach you how to run a brewplant - not how to be a brewer. Think of it like art school - they can teach you to hold a brush but the rest comes from within?
Your lack of knowledge is matched only by your arrogance. |

Do you doubt the work of great artists? Which of the old masters had formal qualifications at art college? |

| There's a lot of good micro brewers in America. Loads in fact, they're just not generally widely distributed. There's some AWESOME beers brewed up in SF that we don't get here in LA. It's like a 7 hour drive :( |

you sir, are an idiot. Sometimes i wonder why canadians think americans are such a bunch of morons, because for the most part, most of the yanks i know are very well cultured, and quite intelligent. Then you start talking, and it reminds me why we have stereotypes to begin with, some people just fit the description to a T. |

Art college is a relatively new invention, in the past people apprenticed under masters of their craft....
Leonardo apprenticed under Verrocchio
Michelangelo apprenticed under Domenico Ghirladaio
Van Gogh studied under Constantijin Huysmans, then spent a decade working as an art dealer
Renoir apprenticed under Cleyre and Monet
is four enough or do you want more examples?
So, who did you apprentice brewing under? |
