I think that's kind of what I was getting at.

although... my favorite beer in the entire world is from Montreal.

I've never heard of any of them; however, that shouldn't be surprising since they are all, presumably, micro brews. I must ask; however, considered to be some of the best by whom exactly?

Beer experts, authors, journalists.

People who critique beer.

The key word there was exactly... which is kind of the opposite of vaguely... which is how you answered.

Well there are just so many of them, and mostly they publish in print rather than online. If you type the name of any of those beers in to Google though I am sure you will find lots of positive reviews and other information on them. These beers are not that obscure, many of them are sold in a host of states across the country.

I'll take your word on it, as none of them are available in Ontario I don't really care that much... just busting you balls... n00b;)

I think if you eliminate microbrews and you look only at mass produced beers the European mass market beers are by far better than US mass market beers. But then if I am looking to drink a beer for its flavor rather than to just get drunk I tend to dislike the weak watered down flavor of American beers brewed by Anheuser-Busch or Miller.

Unibroue Maudite

they used to have it on tap at the bar just up the street from my house, but it's now replaced with something else and i don't know where to get it anymore... which makes me very very sad. :(

here's a site that compiled a list of the world's best beers according to "master raters" worldwide. it's not supported by big brewers and distributors and only 20% of the raters are American, so it should give some people an idea of some of the well-respected American beers/breweries out there...

That's on my list too... number two, right after another Unibroue product, La Fin du Monde. You should try it some time.
