omg I' coulnd't agree with you any more, I miss those days so bad. it was then I've seen some of the best fims ever. if only i could remember most of the titles. I remeber one film in particular titled 'Buchi neri, I' (http://imdb.com/title/tt0112593/) which is one only of the many favorites i could remember .
by any chance do you remember a film, i can't recall whether it was an italina or spanish film were a bunch of kids lived on some island and and they would cause all sorts of trouble? i also remember that there was this beautiful girl that would have sex with soldiers that would vist the island. anyways I've ben looking forever for this film and i'm still unable to find it to this day.
hope someone can help here.
stupid showcase biggest mistake they've ever made was getting ride of the foreign film nights.

Before SHOWCASE channel 39 on Rogers in Toronto changed their line up a few years back, I was the king of watching ridiculous foreign movies of all types. For years they would have a foreign film every night of the week at 10pm for the longest time.
Miss the old line up SHOWCASE had because I never had to rent a foreign film ever.
Reading subtitles during the most pivotal points in a movie was my favorite passtime! :D

awesome character story, with great cinematogaphry.
highly recommended.
I saw that movie by chance on TV (about the second half of it), not bad.
I also saw Beijing Bycicle with my first boyfriend (he was Chinese), cause he had to write a school report about it. Interesting...

Well... it really is a US movie, so not that foreign... but:
is quite good. (Probably better than all these action flicks people posted. And beforfe anyone starts to bitch at me, I hate action and violent movies, so that's my disclaimer).

13 Tzameti. A really great film. An edge of your seat, kick-ass movie. Low budget, but one of my favorites.

Pretty dope movie..ok documentary about a French painter living in NYC, who is robbed one night in his apartment and has paint thinner thrown in his eyes. Since paint thinner is a base, he cannot flush it out, and become gradually blind.
It's crazy because since he is a painter and has a very keen sense for sight he really describes people, things and surroundings to a T.
My description does not do this movie any justice so just czech it out.:toothless
