that sums up my feeling as well.
is anyone not concerned at the message this potentially sends to the kids who would be enrolled there? e.g. you're too stupid/poor/at risk/different/disadvantaged (or whatever criteria you care to insert) to go through a "normal" public school?
I'm all for making attempts to engage students of ALL ethnicities, socio-economic groups, etc...but this is getting ridiculous.
it's akin to the advocates of introducing ebonics to the education system in some areas.
sorry...but try identifying and addressing the reasons WHY certain groups have disproportionate drop-out levels. I *highly* doubt it is the ciriculum and will suggest it's due to socio-economic factors or a lack of parental involvement and emphasis on the importance of *at least* graduating high school.
the solutions suggested here, including the school, does NOT address those issues. |

lol yeah, lets make offhand remarks and inside jokes for...hmmm...Canadians fignting in Afghanistan and the Afghanis hating on them. Too soon? Situation may be totally different, but context of argument is the same.
Honestly, making light publicly of ANY situation dealing with such recent incidents just isn't the most tasteful thing to do, IMO. |

Well, I guess I was part of the story too, cause I sort of stupidly fell for aftrhrsgurl's first comment, thinking it might have been maybe for real. I should've known better.. Sorry. But don't you guys all argue here - I think it's unnecessary - just clarify the issue... |
