if you're gonna try and sound smart, at least get the spelling of asinine correct. i make plenty of (admittedly often caustic or rude) coherent arguments concerning the nature of many things. there are also many posters (in here and the PDD) that i will engage in thoughtful, polite discussion with. because i respect them even if i dont agree with them. just because im rude doesn't mean theres no rational thought or argument.

but, if you bring into an evolution debate some bull obviously learned in sunday school then yeah, im not gonna bother being polite because you don't deserve it.

religion has been benefitting from people being far too polite for far too long. just look at you, ting over thousands of hard-working scientists and all of their research just because you believe in god. if you really think that this opinion is deserving of respect then ive got news for you, and its all bad.

if you knew ANYTHING about me at all, you would actually diagnose my superiority complex. i have no time for disingenuous fools that can't even comprehend the dishonesty in their posts. its not really my fault that you fit into this category, whilst other people like lira or halcyon or clovis do not, so stop blaming me.

your statement concerning evolution got exactly what a creationism apologist or evolution denier deserved.
1) Thanks for giving me what I deserve
2) I dont have to try to sound smart I know that I am smart :toothless but thanks for pointing that out almighty spellchecker
3) I havent once mentioned anything about religion or even my own personal beliefs, believing in God does not equal religion
4) My experience with people like you has been that they use their "Superiority Complex" to hide their deep insecurity and vulnerability especially through a media source like the internet. I could be wrong though i dont claim to be right about everything like you
5) Props for actually at least explaining yourself in a rational manner

lol one can only hope right? that'll never ever happen though, as we'll always have asshats who think they know better than everyone else and will try to impose their will on others. we, as humans, are flawed. we'll never be able to agree on anything and its only going to get worse as times goes on and our population grows.

The problem is, that isn't going to help. People like that, you have to treat them like little kids. It's gotta be drilled into them, over and over. Explained time and time again until it's finally accepted as fact. The more people you can convince like this, the more weight you have, the easier it is to keep on convincing people. Its hard for people who understand it to do so though, because we just fail to see why someone needs "convincing" of this in the first place. Really the main issue is religious folk keep pushing in the other direction. They have absolutely no idea how horribly they're holding this entire race behind. It's astonishing.

We almost universally agree that the world is round. That the moon revolves around the earth and the earth around the sun. I mean, it took a while, but we're there. I reckon in 100 some years creationism will be a fringe idea. Its just what happens. Maybe not in America, since we seem to be going backwards, but at least most of the western world is starting to get there. Over time certain ideas are subject to deemphasis and lose their steam...

haha. why would i need to hide anything on a net forum? (come on man, im almost 30, we dont roll that way). im really just this arrogant and intolerant. the things i am insecure about do not, in any way, compromise my self belief in my intellect.

You should read more dude.

quote:
Religion

Lambert (2003) has examined the religious affiliations and beliefs of the Founders. Some of the 1787 delegates had no affiliation. The others were Protestants except for three Roman Catholics, C. Carroll, D. Carroll, and Fitzsimons. Among the Protestants Constitutional Convention delegates, 28 were Episcopalian, 8 were Presbyterians, 7 were Congregationalists, 2 were Lutherans, 2 were Dutch Reformed, and 2 were Methodists. Many of the more prominent Founding Fathers were vocal about their opposition to organized religion or anti-clerical, such as Jefferson. Some of them often related their anti-organized church leanings in their speeches and correspondence, including George Washington, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson (who created the "Jefferson's Bible"), Benjamin Franklin, and Thomas Paine. However, a few of the more notable founders, such as Patrick Henry, were strong proponents of traditional religion. Several of the Founding Fathers considered themselves to be deists or held beliefs very similar to that of traditional Deists, including Franklin, Jefferson, Paine and Ethan Allen.[10]

Notwithstanding the spectrum of beliefs held by the Founding Fathers, most viewed religion in a favorable light. This is noted through their statements in speeches and correspondences in which they describe its role in molding "national morality" and securing the rule of law (George Washington), its check on human "wickedness" (Benjamin Franklin), and its preservation of a free government such as America (John Adams). Regardless, the division of church and state was always emphasized by the founding fathers. "The government of the United States of America is not in any sense founded on the Christian Religion," states the 1797 Treaty of Tripoli. This document was ratified by Congress without much debate or contention and stands today as a reminder of the founding fathers' intentions.[11]

Although not a religion, Freemasonry was represented in John Blair, Benjamin Franklin, James Mchenry, George Washington, Abraham Baldwin, Gunning Bedford, William Blount, David Brearly, Daniel Carroll, Jonathan Dayton, Rufus King, John Langdon, George Read, Roger Sherman, James Madison, Robert Morris, William Paterson, and Charles Pinckney.

And I'm trying to figure out what angle you're even going at. Are you saying we havn't learned anything new of any value since 1776?

i know i know, im such a bad boy! :D

see, the problem for me is, that those that deny things like evolution simply arent capable of appreciating rational discourse. no matter how many times you pull their undies up over their head, they'll simply move the goalposts and continue. i am far more likely to be nice and rational if the person at hand isnt retarded, and hasnt entered the debate with something ridiculous.

what can i say. being brought up in australia im just used to using mockery and ridicule in everyday conversations. i know i shouldnt but its just so much fun :toothless at least im not ambiguous, thats gotta count for something! :p

i have to do something to make you and lira look good!!

um, have you actually read what some of the founding fathers thought of religion? i think it was jefferson (he's a father, yeah!?) was quite the atheist.

the whole separation of church and state was coz they realised it was (to paraphrase) a bunch of bollocks :p

Well see, I mean.... I'm over arguing about this. its not gonna go anywhere. Read. Read. Read.

Think about stuff. Please. I love thinking. I don't talk much because I prefer thinking. Think.

Thats all I can say.
