we need more little people! little people use less resources because they don't eat as much. that way we can have food for the whole world.

Thoughts before I head to bed.

I am so very proud to be an NIU Alum and if you talk to any of the people I have met in the last years since graduation to see just how open I am to admit that.

My main concern tonight is "when is enough enough?" I know that the public must be informed about current events, but I do not feel they need to be informed of them in the way that they currently are. It seems mass communication (even though they say they aren't) find a way to glorify the person who is so completely out of their normal mental state to commit these major acts of violence and terror. I think this just says a lot about our society today, which isn't a good thing. People are too unforgiving, too uneducated, too easily aggravated and too unwilling to let minor events in their lives go, as a whole these days. Society needs to change its outlook on life and on itself. In my opinion, that will be the only way these events will cease. This epidemic of mass murder on school campuses needs to stop. What ever happened to the Golden Rule? It's about time for that to make a comeback.

My thoughts and prayers go out to those directly involved and also to those who knew someone directly involved. It's been a frightening feeling listening to the events of today and being able to visualize how it all happened, from having multiple classes in Cole. I couldn't begin to imagine what is going on in the minds of the 100+ students that saw the events unfold.

Peace, love and Huskie Pride

NIU Alumni 2005

Good words. Good words. Its gonna be hard going back to school come whenever they reopen campus. And what about the class I have that is IN Cole? Its going to be a real trip sitting in that lecture hall from now on. And especially since this whole thing took place just one hour after I was there. Close call, too close for my comfort. I as well as all of the school appreciate the love. A buddy of mine is good friends with a girl that got shot, and her boyfriend was among the ones killed. She was in my class as well as the one after, which was the one that got invaded so to speak. :nervous:

As a Virginia Tech alumni, I know exactly what kind of emotional state you must be going through. This whole thing makes me sick and extremely sad.

:)

V Tech is showing a ton of support all over the web. Things like this are terrible but they bring people together. This just shows how quickly can happen and your time is up.

I have a theory as to why the opinion of Americans abroad is so , and it has nothing to do with excess, the war in Iraq, or policy - it's the fact that no one in this entire country seems to own up to a ing thing anymore; there is absolutely no sense of personal responsibility in this country.

At the very least that's true in the image we show the world (regardless of whether it's true of all of us) - we have Roger Clemens in front of Congress, Britney Spears on the front of every news paper, and sue anyone we can in an attempt to hide our own idiocy (yes, I'm talking to you s who decided to sue after you spilled coffee on yourself - you're a clutz, off).

/rant

Honestly, I spend so much time defending America and Americans on here, but a lot of what people say is true - and that absolutely ing kills me.

Going to agree here.

Lets not speak about the arabs. If it's up to the majority of the arabic population, Amerika could have a meteor impact any time any day.

But Europe for example, i could quote many dutch forums just to display what people think about Americans. But in general.

*Americans are fat
*Americans are dumb
*Americans are arrogant
*Only in America.

And so on. I think the arrogant part is the thing. Most Americans don't give a about how people think about them.

I wonder if most Americans knew where Iraq was actually. But they did support the war.

As for this incident. I don't understand. it seems to happen more often. Obviously the government isn't going to do much about it. So i guess the school should do so. Are there not any metal dectors or some kind?

Anyone know the motive of this kid yet?

Because I like Bengal Tigers and don't care for the majority of people.

I work for a couple of wildlife NGO's, and it saddens me to bits that the statistics this time aren't lying:
