Stay away from cities. Stay away from the midwest US and southwest US. MIRV's will hit these areas in a strategy called, Nuclear Utilization Theory (NUT) or sometimes Nuclear utilization target selection (NUTS), depending on which historian you talk to. This was done in an attempt to minimize the threat of Mutual Assured Destruction (MAD). This attack is considered one of the greatest achievements (and disasters) in history. Stay in the Appalachians region, if you must.
Most of Europe will be taken through political and conventional warfare. If you live in the areas east of Switzerland, I beg you do move westward.
