Also, I own a battery replacement kit for a 1st generation iPod and have actually opened the iPod to check the battery out. The nano and the iPhone are the ones with non-user-replaceable batteries. |
Pointless. No kidding there are hacks and 3rd party mods, there are for everything, but the battery is not an EURP (industry term), and no typical mac user would get it done, especially at the age it runs out, the consumer wants something better and more useful. |

Does exactly the same functionality wise. Internet, word etc. In functionality and size terms the asus is very strong. Hence why they are great sellers. |

the majority of people nowadays STILL use computers / laptops for basic stuff like word processing, web browsing, movie watching, music listening, picture uploading.
why you would need a dual-core 2gb of ram for doing that, i don't know... or wait, maybe it's because websites are becoming more and more bloated with all the fancy css/ajax stuff (i'm looking at you, gmail), programs are becoming more and more of memory hogs, etc. just because we have the resources doesn't mean we should be allowed to write ty programs / websites / operating systems ( you, vista). most of the applications don't even support dual-core multithreading, meaning that yes, you're still running most programs at single core speed (unless you're running 2 CPU hogs at once, but that's a different problem)
point in case, unless you're using your laptop for things other than the everyday user (say, image processing, matlab, DJing, gaming, development, etc.), you DON'T ACTUALLY NEED the power and performance of a macbook or any other laptop nowadays. my 3.5 year-old desktop with 2ghz AMD and 1.5gb of ram is sufficient for my needs - my only gripe with it is that i've started noticing a slight slow down on some websites due to a load of embedded flash / css / etc. the asus does provide the same functionality for much, much cheaper. but then again, some people pay $10,000 for a watch or $3,000 for shoes/purse. |

i got a quad core Dell with 4gigs of Ram and a 24" widescreen monitor for just over 900 dollars. The same config on a Mac Pro would run me 2.5K easy. now what? |
