Its the Toronto girls... Theres something about Toronto girls, they lack personality and brains. As dynamic and crazy as they can act, I find so many of them so plain on the inside.

Sorry Toronto girls. And yes there are exceptions.

Given how numerous and diverse Toronto's population is, it would be pretty hard to make a sweeping generalization like this.

Why say that? Maybe you and your friends are the exception to the statement, but IMO she is right on the money!

please. show me too. because *almost* every straight girl ive ever met [when im out] in Toronto is looking for drinks, a rich boyfriend, and someone to wave her new gucci bag at.

i can so agree with intangible. haha

i sort of have to agree
from my observations from just around the city, conversations I overhear etc etc - girls are very materialistic around the city
having said that, I've met some great, open-minded and fun girls back in university

I think in Toronto there is just more focus on getting noticed... could be a result of the crazy amounts of people milling about everywhere all the time.

Whenever I go shopping at the Eaton's Center, I usually leave the house thinking "ok wtf I'm just going shopping I totally overdressed"... then I spend 5 mins in the mall surrounded by girls wearing crazy fashionista boots/skirts/fendi bags and I think "wow I have never felt so underdressed in all my life" LOL

I can tell you never grew up in the city, like me...I think the same way but now I've become accustomed to the other norm of always being dressed a bit, but then when I go out locally i.e. restaurants, mall, even the bars around here I get "whoa? whats the occasion?" "just come from work?" and so on.

I find downtown people, they try wayyy to ing hard, especially our generation...nothing wrong with dressing trendy or nice, but some think they are on a runway..guys included which is usually a bigger laugh

Next time we're at the same party, I'll show the "Intagible BARRIE girl" how Toronto girls rock the party!!!:D

hahaha its on! I hope you do show me that there are some toronto girls with grrrrrrrrrrreat personalities

But yes I did make a huge generalization. But like all cities, Toronto has its own culture and the people who live in the city do have similar traits. Toronto is a very fast city, and I find that Toronto girls have a hard time just relaxing and being down-to-earth. Toronto is full of brand names and fashion; and toronto girls are more superficial than girls from small cities. Toronto is full of diversity, and Toronto girls desperately try to seek out for attention. I have yet to figure out why I have a hard time having an intelligent conversation with toronto girls. And I think because toronto girls spend so much energy trying to stand out physically, they become plain on the inside.
I can admit that Toronto has changed me as well. At first I tried to keep up with Toronto and fit in with the Toronto girls. But after some growing up, I realized I was happier being me than being another Toronto girl.
And I am sorry if I offend any girls with my generalization. It’s just something I noticed since I moved here.
I do think that all girls in today’s society are becoming increasingly plain on the inside. It seems to be the new trend in society. However this trend is definitely magnified in Toronto.

ahahaha I know exactly what you mean.

Back home I would go to the mall in sweat pants and I was the best dressed (ok complete exaggeration). But once I moved here I always felt compelled to dress up and look nice. And it doesnt matter how cute I look, I will always look like a total bum compared to the fashionistas.

I do like getting a bit dressed up to go shopping, or to restaurants. And I LOVE wearing a hot outfit for a night out, but I dress up for me, not to impress other people.

The city puts so much on people to always look good. Truthfully Im glad I found a balance between dressing up/being fashionable and being able to just relax and not care.

Do you find also that you have a different wardrobe for back home?
My closet is practically split in half: stuff I wear in Canada/stuff I wear in Polska

track pants in europe = you're a bum... don't matter if they're TNA or 725 Originals
I'd love to have someone correct me on this but I have found it true in France, Germany and Poland

On the other hand... I buy so much awesome stuff there and I can't wear it here b/c people look at me thinking "she's trying too hard"... meanwhile, there, one would blend in wearing such things.
Ex. Last thursday... predrinking at a house party... the females there are all the "American Eagle" i-live-in-jeans, Dallas Green lovers... I was wearing white pants and my hair WASN'T straight... I felt like the winner of a "which-one-of-these-doesn't-belong" picture LOL

not anymore, BUT I know exactly what you mean!
when I went home in January, my best clothes from here, was barely casual at home :( I swear, girls are born with make-up and heels on
they're also ridiculously tall and fit
so not only I felt fat and short, I was under dressed too :(

what I find absolutely lame, is how girls wear those hideous track pants, some sort of slippers (something like those ones: http://image.bizrate.com/resize?sq=...77400&mid=19713)with socks that don't match, meanwhile their hair and make-up is all done up

Agreed, even for guys, in university towns you get American Eagle Clones to the 10th degree. A fitted Tshirt and stylish jeans can make you "gay" or a "gino" in the fashionless towns of ontario. The funny thing is 6 or 7 years down the road they'll all catch up.
