Yup :) Alpacas FTW! I wanted to take one home! My mom (in the pic) used to raise a few Emus a few years ago, she didn't want alpacas, but I said they are a lot nicer to look at, and tastier meat prolly. |

lol, wow. Talk about behind the times.
I used to hate all leggings and skirts, but one use of leggings I've seen over here that I like is (worn in the fall) a dressier dark skirt, with brown leggings and a dark colour of these boots that I will make a very lame attempt to explain: I call them "elvish boots". They are a bit lower cut, and the top part where the leg is quite wide. Sometimes the top part droops down and/or has a buckle on the top. They're really popular over here.
However, the WORST is when girls wear a blue jean skirt, with black leggings and shoes so that you can see the skin on the bottom of their legs in the [b]summer[b].

I'm sorry, but you cannot possibly generalize this broadly. What exactly constitutes "Toronto girls"? How do you know that based on the girls that you come in contact with, you can make an accurate generalization on all the girls in Toronto? I'm assuming the girls that you come in contact with are a) from your place of work b) from the club scene, and maybe some other social circles. What about all the infinite number of social circles that you are not apart of or do not have contact with such as religious groups, special interest groups, ethnic groups, age groups, etc? If the category "Toronto girls" had a fairly homogenous population, then perhaps maybe you could make these generalizations. However, this is clearly not the case. |
It's impossible to make a generalization about all girls, but that's not what generalizations realistically do. When people generalize about a certain topic, they're talking about "most" or the majority.
In generalizing Toronto girls, it's talking about the majority. The majority could be a broad number of girls ranging from 51% of the population to 99% of the female population in Toronto. The majority simply means more than half.
Personally, I've come into contact with just about all kinds of girls in Toronto. Club girls, girls from work, girls from York, UofT, Ryerson, Humber, Seneca, high school girls, girls in the mall, and well as girls from a wide range of backgrounds and ethnicities.
For example, I've met a lot of Indian, Arab, Lebanese, Palestinian, and Saudi girls who ALL dress similarly. They all wear Uggs boots, have TNA and Lulu pants, and most of them have Chanel or TNA bags. Their personalities have also been quite similar to one another; lacking in imagination and usually boring when having a conversation with.
There are some examples like Asian girls, who typically speak little English, and they usually hang out only with other Asians. By observation, some of them do have the same style of clothes as a typical Toronto chick does. I've met some Asian girls, but not that many simply because most of them strictly hang out with Asians and many speak little English.
I've also met girls of a wide age range, from teen girls all the way to women in their 30s. I've seen and met plenty of women in their 30s wearing TNA or Lulu pants, Uggs boots, and even wearing thongs with a matching "bullseye" tattoo on their lower back.
I will bet you that I can go to any random public location in Toronto and do a random sampling of females to see what they are wearing and also ask them some quick questions on a variety of topics just to gauge their personalities and intelligence. The result will almost definitely be that the majority of them fall under the stereotype of a typical Toronto chick.
Toronto does have a diverse population, and you can talk about the illusion of "multiculturalism" in the city but the fact is that all these cultures and ethnicities live in ONE city, ONE society. ALL people living in Toronto are affected in varying degrees by Toronto's society and more broadly by North American society. Some cultures and ethnicities try and fight it but it's a losing battle. Trying to fight the environment you're living in will ultimately lead you to either adapt to the environment or perish. |
