I valet park cars as a side job and out of a couple hundred cars I park(over a couple days) I will get a stiff. So mathematically that is less that 1%. Do I cry? Maybe at the moment in time when I get stiffed but when I look back I realize
1. some people are cheap and some are not
2. Maybe I did a bad job
3. Maybe they had no cash and felt bad saying so
4. Had a big bill and did not want to break it
Well this list can go on and on so why worry in the end when I already know I will lose less than 1% of tips anyhow.

Now I don't think all those things I just think in my mind no tip = scumbag but then the next car comes and its back to square one
:)

this is exactly one thing that has been pointed out to me on numerous occasions by friends from around the world. people in the USA seem to think they have an entitlement to so many things that arent even up to them. a tip is not required, but it is encouraged. there are actually a lot of places around the world, that if you tip they will return your tip. its just not customary.

theres also the fact that the driver makes ass wages and with gas to consider, tips are a very important addition to their pay.

i always tip well, and i am chronically broke as . if i cant tip well, i order ahead and go pick it up myself.

simple.

yessss. this is how i do it

Also, lets keep this just to delivery for arguments sake, cause I have a friend who works valet, and he gets a larger average tip compared to me for doing a tiny fraction of the work I do.

Made $77 in tips in 3 hours last night, lol.

BTW Pizza hut reimburses you some money for every delivery you make, regardless of the distance. Banking money off that, gas efficient car ftw.

And yes you can add notes to someone's address...very useful ;).

Only thing I'm worried about is the wear and tear on my car. I asked some of the veterans there and they said they only put about 14k on their car in one year, which is about 2k more than usual drivers. Not bad...

yes, but its 14k of the worst possible driving you can do to a car. its not constant highway driving, et al. my advice would be to get two keys, so you can leave the engine running while you do the drop off, but still can lock the doors. robbery and carjacking are a significant issue with pizza delivery|

Yeah I always leave the car on. Hawaii has a low crime rate. Not to mention everyone has the "aloha" spirit when tipping here. They're also lazy and stupid so don't want to calculate how much I owe them.

$40 for a $23 pizza?

"nah just keep the change bra!"
