Well, thats not true, that sound was full of hooks and vocals, its just that from a few samples it is difficult to judge. I especialy liked the vocals found in a few legowelt tracks, they had this 80s a-la sisters of mercy gothic style which suited their music, it makes you want to put your shades and dance to the sound! (at times they had some amazing female ones as well, they had nothing to do with poppy trance-diva vocals though they were really awesome) I don't know how familiar you are with these, but i tell you , if you like "Disco Rout" you gonna love everything done by legowelt. "Disco Rout" is a good tune, but you have to listen to some other tracks to understand the power (lol). Back in that era they used to produce lots of EPs and stuff and they even released an album. Go find it, download it or something. Its really amazing.

Will do. Thanks for recommendations. :)

In the meantime, I'll keep filtering through classic Italo, too. I have to admit that cheesy choruses and big pop hooks are part of why I've fallen into it. :p

there are also extended dubs to alot of the songs.. i find that the vocal extended mixes are much better structured though

Why do I worry that this will involve a lot of vinyl in the future?

I just think when it comes to house/electro house there are too many artists that are focusing on the bass more than the melody, a sick bassline always gets people dancing and going and I think think that the importance of a great melody has been forgotten. Atleast with the latest house/electro house I've heard.

Just my 2 cents.

Crap I love those legowelt tracks. Good stuff. I'll have to look into some of those labels and artists you mentioned. I love the fun nature of the tracks and the thick full synths...mmmmm...synntthhhss...
Disco Rout makes me happy lol!

That's bull, and it only shows that you're not where the action is.

As for dub-step, there is a "hype" surrounding it, but its more of an "indie" hype rather then the next big EDM thing. Plus, i thing that there is no Dubstep outside the UK and personally, except for Burial and two other producers, i don't know of a single dubstep dj or anything like that.

The popularity of dubstep is more of a subtle thing. All kinds of DJs are playing a few tracks here and there, and producers are incorporating it into their music, but it's not something you see very clearly.

If it does go big, it will be a watered down version of it. As it stands, it's not for the average weekend clubber who likes his 4x4 beats nice and safe.
