I've kinda lost the ability to do this but I'm still somewhat able to do it.
This is what will happen to me: I'll be in a dream (usually a nightmare) and suddenly realize that I'm dreaming. Once I realize that I'm dreaming I can control the dream. Bad thing is that I usually think dreams are reality and thats why my nightmares always scare the outta me. So I'll usually turn around the nightmare and go into a better dream. It really sux though when yer in a good dream and you get woken up but usually my last dream before I wake up is the only one I remember.
Dreaming is so cool though...just the whole concept and how we don't know much about it. I guess if you look into your dreams you can find out a lot about yourself because they take place in your sub-conscious. Real trippy if you think about it. |

but because your mind is so active would you still be in a full state of rest? (the whole point of sleeping)
any stories on lucid dreams are welcome |
well... your brain activity during sleep is supposed to be just enough to simulate stuff in a lucid dream.
As for me.. I have had a lucid dream... and i know how to inflict them on someone too!! seriously! .:D
I've had several...the best of which was when i dreamt I was skydiving at night and fell into a pool in the middle of a party where all my worst ennemies were and i killed them all with my bare hands and across the street was a party with all my friends and my favourite musical artists...i think i went overkill on the controlling part of lucid dreaming...i woke up when i got locked in a closet.
If anyone wants to know how to induce a "lucid" dream on someone... PM me and i'll enlighten you, it's just that i don;'t wanna type it out now...tired. |

someone asked about brain being very active during lucid dreaming and your body not being able to rest
the answer is simple, yet cannot be explained. basically, whenever a person dreams, its brain acts as if the person was awake. the body, however, is in some sort of parallisis (sp??). that is actually the reason why when we suddenly wake up we cant really move very well. not being able to move your body is simply b/c you dont really want to sleep and move your hands and feet (your brain thinks you do tho)
research has showed that even tho a person can have a very vivid dream, that person's body is well rested. why? they dont really know |

| I've been lucid dreaming now for about a year. Its pretty cool if u ever get the chance to lucid dream. Most of the time its hard to even realise that your dreaming but when u do it can be pretty fun. I've read a couple of books on lucid dreaming and its pretty interesting. |

This happened to me once when I was really young. I just remember suddenly realising I was dreaming and deciding to fly over the school fence. When I woke up I read about it but never managed to train myself to do it :(
Any tips would be wicked :) |

REM sleep is not restorative anyway. it is one of the problems that you have if you smoke weed and take pills is that these drugs increase your REM sleep and despite the increased quantity of sleep you get for example when stoned the quality is so poor that is why you wake up feeling exhausted!
yeah lucidity is awesome. love my imaginations. |

additionally, your mind dreams to "tie up" loses ends in your imagination. This is why dreams are really random and odd at times. It rests by thinking more.. what a huge irony.

you'd be amazed at the things your mind can accomplish with a little training. for instance, making habits and such. its just training and like that that let you recognize that you are dreaming.
