And what percentage of children who grow up in natural families become criminals?

not in this case

what case?

adoption and abortion are two very different situations that cater to different women for often vastly different reasons. you cant state that "adoption > abortion" as a matter of fact.

there are many things that need to be considered when balancing the merits of each course of action, and i dont think one is inherently better than the other because of some obtuse moral standard.

Ok, T...I'll bite.

If we wanna go "the system" route...do you really think it's any better for these kids if they stay in homes where they aren't wanted, or in environments that are unstable? What do you think it's like to grow up with a parent with a substance abuse problem? Or what if they are abusive? Also, do you think it costs the government any less to support young mothers??

Sure, but that didn't really answer all of my questions!

edit: No wait...I guess it does. Ok, so then let's just be hypothetical for a minute, and say that nobody is allowed abortions, ever. The only option is to "be accountable"...now, answer me those questions. :)

Well now we're getting into another unrealistic hypothetical situation that is just as irrelevant.

However, I will answer anyway.

I think unstable environments are better than ones where the children are unwanted.

I know what it's like to grow up with a parent with a substance abuse. It's . Obviously I don't agree with abuse either.

As for how much it costs to support young mothers... I don't know. Ideally those who owned up to their doings would also own up to the financial end of it as well, and therefore would have less people leeching off the gov't as a whole.

Ok another question. If you had an abortion, would you talk openly about it? Would you be proud of your choice?

That's a good point. I don't know that stat on that one, however I am not sure how it is entirely relevant?

Children who grow up with natural families can have vastly varying lives. That can really skew the stats. Sure, so could unadopted children, but typically their lives have one very large commonality - they were brought up in the system which has "protocols" etc.

Not to mention that of course, far more people grow up with their birth parents than there are children who are not adopted.

Believe it or not, I was actually going to say that in my last post.

Hey, you and theresa should get on fine then.

I know, its such a crazy idea to get people to justify the beliefs that they live their life by or ask others to live.
