It seems to be a very common idea among women that their job is to "tame" their man and smooth over or eliminate what they see as his rougher or more irresponsible side. You can see it in movies and on TV all the time, and then find the media image mirrored in real-life situations.
Most couples I encounter exhibit this dynamic to one degree or another. Maybe I just have a skewed sample or something. |

There's some truth to this, I guess. I once read that, "just as men like to invest their time buying car stereos and tuning their vehicles, women like to work on relationships, improving their partners".
I tend to hate this kind of generalisation regarding genders but, well, maybe it's not as inaccurate as we may think. |
