If these people had any financial sense, they'd risk their lives and live in Newark and commute over to Manhattan. :nervous:

we're going through similar debate here after our government annouced cuts in some areas for families earning over AUS$150,000. average wage is $60K, average house is $500K.
150 isn't vastly rich, but it's far from poor, yet there's a hell of a lot of complaining going on. lifestyles and overborrowing on housing have lead to some unrealistic expectations

its gonna get much worse than this I fear people...n not just for those livin in new york

I just can't understand how any of these kids fail to realize that it's generally not so easy as "just going."

Oh you can just go.
Just don't go unless your ass has a proper job.

Just don't go unless your ass has a proper job or you have a connection to a rent stabilized apartment.

Seriously - the bulk of those kids just sound like they're sacrificing their own quality of life for the sake of living in New York, and in doing so are only perpetuating their own problems.

Tough .

I concur.

My brother just got back from a weekend in the hamptons with some friends from college. They rented a beach front mansion, on memorial day weekend, wtf?!?!? My brother couldn't afford it, but his friends who work in NYC definitley can. They are 23-24 y/os making 125-150k a year with just an undergraduate. I can see where the OP was coming from. Not everyone has the luxuries they have, although they work for them (average 110 hour work week)

Yeah I was laughing at that the other day. They had this massive article about families bitching about the changes, because they need money for car payments and private school fee's.
