THAT noise
I'm getting mine taken out this friday and I flat out refused to go through with it unless those ******s knocked me out

I scheduled to go back to work on the following tuesday... hopefully the pain will pass before then and my face will be less blimpy

I am a dentist currently practicing in Dayton OH. I would highly recommend IV sedation to ease you through the process. If none are impacted you may be able to tolerate it. You should be completely numb either way but will feel lots of pressure and hear weird noises.

Recovery times vary bigtime between different patients. Some go out to dinner same night, others are messed up for one or more weeks.

Talk to your dentist about dry socket, that is a way bigger problem painwise that any wisdom tooth pain itself.

Without getting too much into detail it is almost always a good idea to get your wisdom teeth extracted its not only about making cash! Biggest issues include causing cavities around adjacent teeth and increasing risk of periodontal disease. Good luck! If you have any questions feel free to contact me.

good luck, but it's really not that serious. one of the most common surgeries around. why do people make such a huge deal out of this? my best friend just got hers out and she's been acting like she's the only person who's ever had them out, maybe i'm just annoyed by that.
:D

i had 5 wisdom teeth (yes, 5... my mom had 6) and got them all pulled out at once, was put under for hours & hours, was knocked out as soon as the hygienist started counting "5...4...3..." and didn't wake up until hours later in the late afternoon in my house. my mouth was messed up for a week but i knew what to expect and took it easy and slow, and got prescribed vicadin so it wasn't anything huge i guess.

just be glad you don't have 5! and again, good luck! take it easy and it'll be fine.

Quick question. Why would the surgeon be reluctant to put me to sleep?.

When i asked him if i will be put to sleep, he seemed very evasive and said its not necessary, but i could have it if i want. It makes no sense, its profitable for him, so i see no reason for him to say that.

Jesus Christ :nervous: And that's why I detest dentists. All that excruciating pain and at the very same time they're asking you what school you go to, how your day has been and telling you you really need to stop eating popcorn

haha ya that sucked... i just rinsed well with mouth wash. chunks would stay in there and i would find them 4 or 5 hours later after i had eaten.

They teach us that in our first year of dental school.

not sure...could you have any potential medical contraindications for being put out? like you said, its easier for the dentist and very productive costwise, so for most dentists the option would be to do it for sure.

Pisses me straight off. Do you really expect me to unfold my life story as shiny metallic knives are just scraping my tongue and your drilling through my jaw as if it was to China?

i had 5 pulled. :D

first off all, the actual procedure doesn't hurt at all. then again they put me to sleep (don't they normally) and the after-effects are the worst, usually a week. it's not really painful since your on T3s and it just kinda sucks cause you can barely eat anything.

You can't have 5 wisdom teeth pulled. You may have had 4 wisdom teeth and another tooth pulled though.

And they don't issue T3 here in the states. They issue vicodin or percocet with ibuprofen 600's. Also, getting knocked out is a choice. You can choose between knocked out or the local anesthetic.
