Pioneer 700 mixer vs 800 (pg. 5)

I dont see what all the fuss is about. For me, DJM-800 is the choice for sure over Xone 92 and DJM-700. I've asked many "mainstream" folks over where I am at, and they without exception said that my DJM-800 is much better stylin' than Xone 92 (which I dont own, but I provided links, photos, specs). Plus, my DJM-800 is made in Japan, which I am very happy about. Plus DJM's effects arent as cheesy as some on here try to claim. Its all about using them in the right places and at the right time.

In any case, this shouldn't be a debate of what is better or what is worse - both brands are very good. The real question is what you want to use it for. And that doesnt make the equipment superior.

Compare the specs instead!

No offense, but there's some serious elitism going on here in some posts (no fingers pointing at anyone). I've seen enough of that bull on Discogs forums, sadly enough its seeping on here too. Its elitist enough to consider underground detroit techno superior over trance or whatever other music comparison.

Besides, thats NOT the title of the thread ... we're supposed to be comparing 700's vs. 800's. And 800's are slightly better - newer model. Find a good dealer and you can get it for under $1300. I got mine for $1350, brand new, Made In Japan.

BTW, I REALLY miss the sampler that was available in earlier DJM models but absent in the 800's ... :(

EDIT: I bet RJT thinks that techno music is superior to all other music ... how elitist is that. Most people will find that offensive. Besides, EDM lovers are a small minority in the world. Which clearly shows how "superior" electronic music is! But its not the case. There's no such thing as one style of music superior to another, but merely a listening preference. Just like its offensive to say that French culture/language/etc is inferior to German.

Beto is an idiot across the board and I think the reasons Woody gave against buying a Xone were ing ludicrous.

I don't think RJT was particularly tactful in his post, especially since I know Woody personally and he's a great guy, but the points he raised were...true. Countering with "Woody has more gigs" only served to illustrate the point.

Both mixers are useful, I've played on the 800 loads of times and enjoyed the punchy bass in certain situations, but by and large, for people who like MIXING, and blending music, the Xone is just better. We could post a list of DJ preferences and it would speak for itself.

I don't see how it was any more tactless than 90% of what other folks post here, but at the end of the day the point being made probably couldn't have been made nearly as clearly without making the distinction between the mindset of someone who cares about getting gigs, making money, and continuing to sound like 90% of the other DJ's who've also spent their years trying to emulate Armin/Tiesto/PVD/etc. and the mindset of somebody who cares about DJ'ing for DJ'ing's sake.

Genre doesn't matter, style doesn't matter - you know where the opinion of those who lay on each side of the fence will rest without even asking.

The DJX700. Behringer's flagship from their turd sandwich line. Can't be beaten.

Specs? :D ;)

In the case of Behringer brand, its a question of quality. Hence the price. Thus I avoid it.

I hear your sarcasm, so I'd like to clarify - I stated before, that when discussing electronics, its good to talk about the specs ... for obvious reasons.

Are DJMs really made in Japan? I would expect them to be designed in Japan and manufactured elsewhere, most likely Malaysia. I know my CDJ-800mk2's are made there.

I think pretty much everyone will agree that for the "DJ Booth", IMO one of the last refuges on this board of good quality conversation, it was tactless, so don't kid yourself.

Alright, bed time.

If a bunch of kids yelling at each other over what mixer to buy, 600 repeat topics per month, and the odd 8 page post by Nem is "good quality conversation"...well... :stongue:

And here still no one has refuted the points RJT brought up beyond saying the post was "tactless"
