Actually, English doesn't really study language as such (in the way linguistics does).
English professors basically just get paid to read lots of books and talk about them. :p |

For sure, I definitely think numbers are useful and that without them we'd be ed. Just an odd thought I've had since I was a kid that really makes no practical sense but I've never been able to get over.

Oh man, perception is one of my all time favorite discussions to have because it almost always invites the thought of questioning whether or not what you see around you is real, and any discussion that leads to doubting accepted reality is and rainbows to me.

I really wish I didn't have to find time to both study for tomorrows midterm and watch game 6 tonight, because I could really dig into a metaphysics discussion right now. :( |

Now this is the exact point where any scientist / mathematician will tell you to sod off. Whether whole number exist from a philosophical viewpoint will be completely irrelevant to them, since they certainly exist from a scientific viewpoint. Any further discussion will just cause head shaking and mildly amused laughter. |

Of course I like science. I live and breathe science and science policy. Science is my religion!
And my favorite is atmospheric, but nuclear physics interests the heck out of me. |

This guy I used to work with graduated with a degree in philosophy, and I loved conversing and debating with him. It was really ing stimulating. I would bring up a concept, and he would stump the out of me with all the philosophical views, but it was interesting to just get a totally different point of view. |

I'd say say physics is my favorite science. I also believe math is not a science. I've always held both as two separate entities.
Science:
Physics
Biology
Chemistry
Math:
Calculus
Algebra
Differential Equations
^As an example, that's how I always viewed the two. |

Makes sense to me. :conf:
I think of mathematics as more of a language we devellop because all of our other languages are too complex and too interwined with culture to accurately describe simple things that need to be universally understood with consistant interpretation. |
