Agreed. Science is the study of the natural system and its elements... math is a language. Science happens to use the language of math.
We made up the language of math. |

Did you know that people can translate languages using math?! Ask Ania, she knows. It is someting she explained to me one day, but I really don't see how it is possible. It makes no sense to me. |

Oh man, perception is one of my all time favorite discussions to have because it almost always invites the thought of questioning whether or not what you see around you is real, and any discussion that leads to doubting accepted reality is and rainbows to me.

I really wish I didn't have to find time to both study for tomorrows midterm and watch game 6 tonight, because I could really dig into a metaphysics discussion right now. :( |

Actually, even though I love philosophy of science (I <3 Feyerabend), I don't think most scientists even care about what philosophers have to say. I remember I once heard a scientist saying that no one cares about philosophy of science but philosophers themselves.
Which a shame, because philosophy (of any kind) has always been the food great scientists nurtured on.
(Is the last sentence grammatically correct, by the way?)

Wait, sociology is a science (unlike math)! If anything, you can say that physics is a hard science while sociology isn't, although this too has been disputed in the history of science. |

Algorithms; specifically financial model algorithms. I've been working on mine at least 4 days a week for the past 2 years. Gödel's Incompleteness Theorems say no mathematical system is ever complete. Basically, my algorithm will never be completed. I will be working on it for the rest of my life.
Physics is awesome too because that is essentially trying to explain what existence is. What is this reality we're living in? I also believe in metaphysical realities, unmeasurable in any laboratory, which make up the very essence of the universe. |
