so can it be any random street, or does someone has to actually live there to host it? lol
i just imagined us randomly chosing a street and surprising the neighbours :P |

It really should happen again. Last year I lived at Nat's as she was away. Not to say I had any real part in planning as Nathalie is *the* planner extrodinaire. Though I may be able to provide some advice based on what I know. But seriously in her honour and to keep TOTA vibes alive it has to be.
Mr. Ear thank you for taking some charge in this. There are so many things to consider and we should deal with them one step at a time.
Location and Permits definetly is step one. If we choose to do the block party thing someone has to step up and offer up "their street". I Also believe you have to petition the neighbours to get approval for the party.. Nathalie had an easy time of it because Langley St. revolved around the happenenigs at her house... lol.
Alternatively we could do it up in a park such as High Park (The Islands although very nice I think would make it troublesome to get all the stuff needed). Having the party in the park would also raise other issues such as POWER.
This also raises costs. Getting everyone to pitch a certain dollar amount the party is one thing but there will be some cost incurred in planning and seting up before the event.
Either way hopefully this gets done. Personally I don't have a lot of time to help all the way though. Maybe some "committee" needs to be formed.

Right.
Well it looks like people are on board & I'll even hazard to guess that more will be interested in planning this thing since I opened this thread an hour & 15 min ago lol.
So step one (& yes I saw the whole 8 wks biz, but have it under advisement that 4 weeks is still doable with a full signed petition of the affected residents) would then be to quickly ascertain a viable location for it. So logic dictates that the smaller the number of residents on the affected part of the street, or requiring the affected part of the street to access their homes the better.
Otherwise, we'll need a multiple-tennis court enclosure at a condo or apartment complex, as that also comes to mind as a viable option (although certainly less appealing).
Or even other potential venues if anyone else has ideas.
But I do believe venue selection has primacy of place as nothing happens when there's nowhere to have it. |

| can we do it again on nat's old street? it'd be much easier since all the neighbors know what's going down. |

| for power...im sure we can rent a nice generator or two to keep things alive if done in a park...it will be a bit loud, but the music will overthrow it anyways |
