Also...I STRONGLY suggest PMing Nat and asking her what the best way is to go about renting porta potties, tents, organization and everything...rather than just have a bunch of ppl chime in. B/c with the number of people on this site now, this thread is just going to turn into:
"I think we should do this"
"I think we should do that"
And then it'll be a bit ruckus and nothing will get done. If you get some basic information from Nat, at least you have an outline to go by.
That being said...I think it should be kept on the Saturday before Labour of Love, as per tradition. |

Absolutely. But no point in worryin about that.
Perhaps a pint & patio planning meeting is in order amongst those who are all for doin whatever it takes to get this thing off the ground. B/c we'll need to come up w/ a few possible locations (i.e. street, courtyard, beach, etc.) & then quickly figure out what needs to be done to make each one a reality. Then we can worry about getting the other elements together.
Either way, Labour Day needs a TOTA end of summer party & I'm very willing to put in a good chunk of my time to make it happen.
Anyone who's up for a potential Friday pint & patio discussion pm me.
No idea where yet, but I'm thinking something central to downtown that's well priced. |

Thanks for the suggestion though. Already pm'd Nat for advice a little while ago.
Also, who says we have to close a street to get this done... I'm sure that there are other viable options/locations to make it happen at.
Either way, this is just a feeler to see who's on board to try & make it happen... no point in buggin out until we've actually got a few dedicated people who are willing to put in the time to execute on that which needs to occur to get this thing off the ground.
As for the Saturday of the Labour Day weekend.... is there any other day that's even worth considering? As I said earlier, it's TOTA tradition, innit? |

Unfortunately I won't be able to help, as I'm in Windsor and I'll be lucky if I get up to Toronto anytime soon, let alone Labour Day. Like I've mentioned before, I have the next month to finish my thesis and I start law school August 18th...so I don't even know if I'll be up Labour Day.
Didn't know if you PM'd Nat...looks like you're off to a great start. I also didn't realize you were looking for helpers right now, I thought you were just looking for random ideas. Looks like you got a great start or organization ^5.
I put up a vote for tradition though...let's keep Nat's legacy going strong so that when she comes back she can re-claim the thrown! Also, just an idea...for all the TAs coming in from out of town for Labour of Love...this gives them a chance to meet TOTAs. I know there's always out of towners that come just for this event and then hit up LOL too. |

My plan right now is to come up Labour Day weekend. At least it's my goal, but school may prevent that from happening. My main reason for wanting to come up was due to this party too, b/c everyone has the weekend off so everyone comes out! And it would be a great party (where I could dance to tunes and actually TALK to ppl vs. be in a club) to see everyone before I become a hermit in Windsor for the next 3 years haha.
Anyway....good luck with everything!! Hopefully it works. |

Yep. I'm in. I get back on the 19th.
Awaiting to hear the results of this.
I also plan on going to the Virgin Fest on the Sun as well. Damn, it will be messy.
